I need some help on identifying a certain cartoon. As I haven't seen it in probably 10+ years I'm not sure if it's a WB or MGM or what it is, but it involves a cat being chased by a dog until he comes across a tin full of some sort of pills or something that allows the cat to "throw" his voice, which confuses the dog.
This was one of my favorite cartoons from my childhood and I was hoping it was on that disc dedicated to cats on LTGC 4, but I didn't see it. I even asked a friend about it who claimed it was one of favorites (along with Red Hot Riding Hood), but he didn't know either.
So, with all your knowledge out there in Cartoonland, please help!

Sounds like Tex Avery's "Ventriloquist Cat" (MGM, 1950).

Definitely VENTRILOQUIST CAT. It's a shame we didn't get a Tex Avery MGM DVD set like the people of France did a few years back. However, I would want the cartoons UNCUT as opposed to the French set.

The cartoon is available on the Three Little Words DVD in the US...

Thanks. I checked it out via YouTube, and that's definitely it. Stupid me, I had the strangest feeling that the cat in question was Claude Cat, but apparently I was W-A-A-Y off. This also explains why my buddy likes this cartoon, as he's a huge Tex Avery fan(though it's weird he couldn't identify it.)

Is it my imagination, or is the cat's meow the same voice as the duck from the Tom and Jerry cartoons, Red Coffey?
Nope, IMDB says it's Clarence Nash, voice of Donald Duck. Weird.

Not weird at all. The IMDB is little more than well-intentioned. It does sound like Coffey.
I'm wondering who did the cat's voice at the beginning and the end.

P.S. Boxoffice magazine, in its review, calls it a Tom and Jerry cartoon. But they also rate it "very good" which is better than the reviews for What's Up Doc and All A-Bir-r-r-d in the same edition.

the cartoon could also be "The Cats Meow" though it was a
remake of ventriloquist cat.

I don't suppose you have a link to this article? I tried to find it but to no avail.
BTW Vancouver is a great city(if you mean British Columbia). I once considered moving there.
