Surprised no one has mentioned this yet. Cartoon historian extraordinaire Jerry Beck will be on Stu Shostak's internet radio show again on Wednesday, June 10th starting at 4pm (Pacific).
The year's been pretty thin so far when it comes to Golden Age DVD releases. Hopefully there will be some news regarding possible releases for the rest of the year.

I think the last of discussion is telling that nothing of interest will be revealed.

Jerry already announced an upcoming "Mighty Mouse" box set to come out on Cartoon Brew that will be discussed during the radio show.
I sure hope they used and restored the original prints (they got them) instead than the edited versions of the shorts they used to air (lots of "cool stuff" missing from various MM toons).
It is a box set so I'm pretty sure Jerry made it a la Universal's Woody sets, with lots of shorts starring "friends" like Heckle and Jeckle etc..there are also several one-shots I'd love to see restored.
What I'd really love, anyway, is a Famous Studios (1942-1950) set. Maybe, one day.....

Let's not speculate any further until we get the official word tomorrow night. :mighty:

You are unfortunately very wrong about the MM set -- and you may be very disappointed. Personally, I'm quite excited about it.
I hope you'll all tune in to hear and discuss what's going on with that and other classic cartoon projects.

I hate Terrytoons, so I wouldn't care much if the official DVD is just a "best of" compilation of cut up TV prints of Might Mouse cartoons only. I'd only care if none of Ralph Bakshi's MM revival was included.
Topics this time will include the upcoming Mighty Mouse DVD box set from CBS, forthcoming (if any) classic cartoon DVDs from Warner Bros. and your phone calls.
Depending on whether or not the "forthcoming (if any)" is in reference to the rest of the year or the foreseeable future, this will be an incredibly depressing interview indeed.
It's the Bakshi Mighty Mouse show that will be on DVD. They interviewed a many people for the extras, so the chances of it being about what a prodigy John K. was on the show are slim, if anyone's worrying.
Personally, I'd love a Terrytoons DVD set more myself!

I know we have a lot of Terrytoon fans in our midst, but let me just say: Thank God.
(BTW, does anyone know if they got Tom Minton?)

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll include the complete version of all the shorts that bits of show up in the cheater music compilation episodes as bonus items...

Did the time change? The last few times I have heard Stu's Show live, it began at 7:00pm here in the Eastern timezone, which would be 4:00pm on the west coast.
Anyway, I am looking forward to tomorrow's show. It is always a privilege to hear Jerry share his knowledge about cartoons. While I am looking forward to whatever DVD news Jerry has to share with us, I am also interested in hearing his thoughts about "Family Guy"

Yes, it's always 7pm and it showed in repeat everydays until next wednesday.

Personally, I'd love a Terrytoons DVD set more myself! Oh well, it's better than nothing! If it was from the original cartoons, it's sure be a refresh and a discover with the Jim Tyer's animations and how some cartoons was duplicated in many PD videos companies.
I personally looking for the Bakshi's adaptation because i haven't seen it when it showed.

Did CBS choose to go with the Bakshi MM because it's newer and overhead will be less? (just dump the extant videotape masters to disc, dot crawl and aliasing be damned).
That'd be good if outstanding sales of the Bakshi Mighty Mouse convinces CBS to release do new transfers of the original Terrytoons and release them.
I don't think Jerry cares that much about Family Guy or Seth MacFarlane one way or the other, and at this point there's really not much you can really say about it.

I heard it was a debate about the best and worst of the show.

YES!! (Pumps fist in the air) I thought this was going to be next week, and I wouldn't be able to listen or try to call due to my leaving for an extended absence. But I'll be ready and waiting with my phone!

Beg pardon, but what say we instead factor in the benefits to CBS and viewers alike of finally having a professionally prepared and ***legal*** collection of the Bakshi MM out there?
And (need I add?) anyone who wants to eventually see bells-and-whistles Terrytoons collections reach the market had damned well better support this set! Here comes our first real chance to build momentum for that, both online and at the retail level. :mighty:

I wasn't complaining, I'm greatly anticipating the Bakshi material in fact. I was just pondering what CBS were probably thinking from a logistical standpoint.

Alrighty,
I doubled checked the Shokus Internet Radio website and edited my first post to show the correct time. It's 4-6pm Pacific. Not 6-8pm as I had mentioned previously. Sorry for the mix up. Crazy time zones. I always go nuts trying to figure out what time it is on the mainland.

That's not right.

We'll be there.
The MM set is better than nothing so...
