After all these years, I finally gave in. I am testing out an off-topic forum which I have dubbed The GAC Water Cooler (http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/forumdisplay.php?f=25). To get the ball rolling I have moved all the OT threads from the past 45 days or so into it. We'll see how it goes, hopefully it will reduce some clutter here on the normal TTTP.
A couple ground rules:
--- Political and religious threads are not allowed. Sorry. We all know how these end and I don't feel like moderating them all the time.
--- Let's try not to go overboard with pointless threads, PLEASE. This isn't Twitter. At least make an honest attempt to create threads that will result in some actual discussion.
I plan to test this out for a month or so. If it turns out to be a colossal pain, I will delete it and we shall never speak of it again. :shame:
Good idea? Bad idea? We'll find out.

Yes, we'll find out. Personally, I think it's a good idea, but we'll see.
And as someone who starts a lot of the OT topics, I'll do my best to stop myself from starting a lot. Promise!

Im not to answer right now if it's a "Good Idea" or "Bad Idea"...so far, it's a good idea considering we do need a OT disscussion board, but Im not too sure how this is going to work out.

One thing that's IMO good about it is that we'll no longer need to worry about too many threads getting lost in the shuffle.

I'm up in the air to know if this is a good idea or a bad idea. We'll have to see as the month progress.

I'll give it a chance.

The Termite Terrace Trading Post is the only forum I visit regularly.
So that means I won't be participating in OT topics anymore.
No big deal one way or another to me.

I think it's a good idea. It will help keep things a little better organized. Right now I don't see how it can't work unless there's a lot of nasty arguments.

This will be subject to moderator enforcement, I presume?

Wow. You mean you can't even click on GAC FORUMS on this very page and read? Yet you'll click on a post on this very page and read.
I don't get it.
Jon, some other boards I'm on have a seperate area for "anything on your mind" type discussions and it seems to work well for those who partake in such things. And those who don't. Interestingly, on one, as soon as the off-topic area was set up, most off-topic discussions ceased. Go figure. People ARE bunny.

Yes, we'll be keeping an eye on things. It's not going to be a free-for-all.

It might work out, as long as people keep using both forums, and people don't just register to go OT.

People seldom post overtly political or religious threads in GAC anyway. I think the only real negative is that the TTTP will now have much less activity (because of the dearth of new things to talk about)

Sorry to be a smartass right off the bat, but couldn't this thread be considered "off topic"?
