View Full Version : Bugs Bunny: Superstar
Do you think Warner will release a stand-alone DVD of this documentary once all the cartoons featured in it are restored, and said restored versions would be featured in the new release?

Since it was already released on Golden Collection Vol. 4, I doubt it.

Well, as a special feature, it wasn't restored. A new release would have the film fully restored (both the cartoon parts and the live-action footage).

I'm not trying to bash the guy but-
It's too much of a Clampett propaganda piece, so I'd rather keep it confined to the bonus section oblivion.

I don't think there's any point in releasing it separately. Anybody who's interested in seeing it at all -- anyone out of the general public who enjoys Looney Tunes enough to want to watch a documentary-ish film about them-- has probably already got the Golden Collections. I think restoring it would be a waste of time and money. Some of the cartoons are available on the Golden Collections, restored, already, and restoring the interview segments wouldn't add anything-- you're watching those to see what the people say (and maybe what they look like), rather than to marvel at the picture quality.

As a side note, my late Editor and Videographer, Brian King was Cinematographer and Editor on BUGS BUNNY SUPERSTAR.

I agree - as much as I can sit and enjoy Clampett's cartoons (although Friz Freleng is still #1, IMO), it was all about him. I do have the MGM/UA video of "BB:SS" and it doesn't have any 'dubbed' versions unlike what is on the GC DVD set.

Sigh. I'm getting sick of this lousy Clampett bashing. Propaganda my foot.

Didn't you notice that Jack G. said in his post from the start that he WASN'T trying to bash Clampett? He was just "telling it like it is" and there's nothing wrong with that.

Well, yeah, but I have the feeling this thread will start going downhill soon. But I have that feeling alot and I'm usually wrong, so never mind.

Love Clampett's cartoons.
I know Avery made an appearance but Bob McKimson didn't which is unfortunate.
I'd really like to see some footage of him being interviewed.

I think Thad had posted a lengthy interview of Robert McKimson on his blog months ago. It was done shortly before his death, and I remember that eerily at the end of the interview McKimson talked about how he just wants to retire and take a rest.

What I meant was video footage.
I've watched interviews with Freleng, Clampett, Jones, and Avery. But not McKimson.
I understand such things didn't interest him much. He didn't seek the limelight.
