Plus a batch of Jim Tyer-isms here and there. :D
Just one minor latter-day quibble/nitpicking observation: The gag on the sign out front was a good one, but no doubt could have been more concise and funnier even for 1954 ("Eat Now — Pay Later," for example). :shame:

It might be a reason (the first to get there was Richard Williams' "A Christmas Carol" early in the decade). Several productions made for or aired on Britain's Channel Four have often been nominated and won Oscars in the 80's and 90's.

Pretty much a lot of guys who came off of the Mighty Mouse series with something else for them to do, though to be honest, I really didn't see much of Bakshi's or else's trademark much in this special. It probably had more control by Geisel in the end but it was worth it the attention and pacing the put into this.

Jeff Pidgeon writes (http://www.jeffpidgeon.com/2006/01/design-attempt-for-butter-battle-tv.html) about his work on the special which may explain some things.
Seuss stated before his death that the Bakshi special was probably the most faithful of any animated adaptation of his books. Makes me wonder what he thought of those DePatie-Freleng specials.
No animators are credited in this special, so it was probably animated overseas; more likely at Wang Films, since they handled the Mighty Mouse series and that Nickelodeon pilot Bakshi did.

I figured it was done by Wang Film, not sure why they didn't get credit here by name otherwise unless it was a technical gaffe they didn't get that credit in for the end. I think Wang Film also did the "Hound Town" pilot as well.

Had a meaning to post about this for some time.
In 1969, the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation produced a series of short films as part of some drug prevention initiative that focused on telling those how to spot someone who may be under the influences or other pointers in their investigations. In putting together this series, animation was apparently used to get the message across, but for whatever reason, uses cavemen as a professor of sorts and subjects in a series of animated segments that appear very Hanna-Barbera like (though I also thought of the Bill Hendricks WB cartoons as well). It's rather campy and weird watching these, though sadly, there's only so few of 'em online to view.
Behavior Effects of Drugs (cartoon #3) (http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/entertainment/watch/v1520285zS2WwFK3)
Drug Needs (cartoon #7), Drug Source (cartoon #8) and Drug Use (cartoon #9) (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4392110586610589535)
There used to be one other one online for "Drug Effects", which was #6, but was a review type piece. Each segment was usually titled with the statement "focus on this frame" during the opening credit, and "Turn off projector" at the end, so there was probably a teacher there to do a little oral lecture inbetween these. They're just so amusing!

This Tintin feature with the other animated ones aired each Holidays in Tele-Quebec during a film block along with the Kirikou, Lucky Luke and Asterix movies. Yes, you can kinda watched it during 10 years but at least, it's better visually than with Scooby-Doo. :D

Unfortuanly, I could only find one of the two abridge versions of this episode. You see, originally this was a ten minute short but for time reason, it aired as two seperate re-edited episodes like the other early entries. One was titled "The Baking Tour", which as I recall didn't have the dark scenes, and this one that uses the original title.
A restored version of this short that had a deleted scene, used to be be on Youtube, but was removed by the uploaders' (The Orchaird, who bought out the original distrubter, DMGI) wishes.

Art Leonardi directed this. He told me that Friz originally wanted Hawley Pratt to direct it, but by then he retired. Rather than come out of retirement, he convinced Art to do it instead.
Ahh yes, this is my second favorite "Pink Panther" movie opening. (First favorite was the one that started it all)

I remember "Time Bokan" (and some of its many spin-offs). Never saw "Demetan", though I remember "Minashigo Hutch", about a bee trying to return to his mother, a Queen bee (he succeeds in the last episode).
I remember being a fan of one of their comedy shows, "Hakushon Daimao", the one about a boy and his dim-witted genie who gets summoned every time somebody sneezes near the bottle. The genie would then have to do the bidding of whoever sneezed, but of course he would fail near the end of the episode. The genie also had a kid sister who gets summoned every time somebody yawns.
It eventually got an English dubbing under Saban, titled "Bob in a Bottle". It only aired in Canada, though.
(for trademark purposes, the English title Tatsunoko gave officially is "The Genie Family")

True. That was the best we had, two VHS compilation movies (the other was "TimeFighters in the Land of Fantasy"). A dub movie compilation of "Demetan Croaker, the Boy Frog" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demetan_Croaker,_The_Boy_Frog) was released under the name "The Brave Frog" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96n19ZNEURQ).
A simular Tatsunoko cartoon that focused on a small insect was "Hutch the Honeybee" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSw01oQDqXg).
Of course now America will be getting "Tatsunoko vs. Capcom" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatsunoko_vs._Capcom) for the Wii soon, featuring some characters that may or may not have made any waves on American TV or home video, though it's a shame if this guy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js4f6obJBc4) isn't coming over to our release.

So a Cartoon Brew post on a "hidden message" in a Popeye cartoon made me look up a Pink Panther short "Pink-A-Boo". There were several instances of a mouse squeaking.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywtEgjG2c6Q
So what did it say when I slowed it down? The answer is...nothing. It really was just some random gibberish sped up.
Oh well, here's the cartoon anyway.
EDIT: I tried it out with another Panther cartoon "Pink is a Many Splintered Thing". Towards the end the big nose man is talking to someone on the phone and it appears that the sped up noise heard through the phone DOES say something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSYw_bQt9XQ
After the man lands on the ground, the phone is still going one. You can hear "And I had 15 years" and the rest I can't hear due to the music and sound effects muffling it.
