View Full Version : Speaking of the Weather question
I have a question about this 1937 cartoon. I know it was reissued as a Blue Ribbon, and that its original titles were restored on DVD. However, the 1941 MM ending theme plays on the end card because the audio was sourced from the Turner dubbed version.
Now, here is the question:
What was the original ending music? Did a version of Merrily We Roll Along play? Or was it like other Merrie Melodies of the time? Can anyone upload a clip of the laserdisc ending as well please?

"Speaking of the Weather" was one of three MM cartoons ("Plenty of Money and You" and Dog Daze" being the others) that ended with a short version of the 1936-37 'Merrily We Roll Along' music. Warners decided to use the same opening and closing music for both the MM and the LT shorts using the 36-37 versions and three cartoons were released in each series before the 1937-38 revisions, which also changed the Looney Tunes theme to "The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down." In the MM series, "I Wanna Be A Sailor" was the first with the new music (and more than likely, with the new yellow/orange concentric circles).

The last several "Fat Porky Title Card" Looney Tunes shorts also had their own closing music. Which was a shortened version of the theme music played in Bb Major. Specifically, Porky's Badtime Story, Porky's Railroad, Get Rich Quick Porky, and Porky's Garden. There may also be one more cartoon that I'm overlooking.
