I recently helped my parents clean out their basement and I found about 100 VHS tapes I used to tape cartoons off of TV, as well as some tapes with cartoons I obtained via trade. On one of the tapes, there was a Blue Ribbon version of "Daffy Dilly" and it had an a.a.p. intro. I found this quite confusing given the fact that this cartoon was not included in the sale to a.a.p.

perhaps it's a work of a PD company? (in reality, all post-48 cartoons are still under (C))

It was on a video I acquired in a trade, so not really a PD video label. The transition from the a.a.p. intro to the intro with the WB shield perfectly matched the way a.a.p. attached their intro to the pre-1948 Warner cartoons. I suspect it is possible that a.a.p. did receive a copy of this cartoon in error and later had to return it to Warner Bros. After all, woudln't it be easy to make that sort of mistake when most of the Blue Ribbon reissues that lost their original credits were sold to a.a.p.?

and Daffy Dilly is notable today because it is the only creditless post-48 BR not yet restored for DVD release (although a print of the original version is in store somewhere in Maryland)

I wonder if the print is in "restorable" condition. I sure hope the WB restoration team can acquire it so the last creditless BR EVER will at last have its original titles back.

Oh, you think you could upload that error version somewhere please?

Well, first things first. I am not at all familiar with the process of transferring something from a VHS tape onto my computer. I probably would need to buy some sort of equipment in order to do it? I can easily setup a Youtube account. Needless to say, I need to learn the whole process of uploading videos before I can. I would definitely like to have it uploaded somewhere because I do realize that seeing is believing.

Was Rabbit Transit technically the last cartoon to have AAP titles? Or was it Gorilla My Dreams?

"Haredevil Hare" in terms of release date, and "The Upstanding Sitter" in terms of production numbers were the last WB shorts in the AAP package.

Interestingly, Haredevil Hare was also the last pre-48 WB cartoon.

it is possible that a.a.p. did receive a copy of this cartoon in error and later had to return it to Warner Bros.

Well, they wouldn't have had to physically return anything, they simply would've been required to stop distributing it (if the "received in error" theory is true).

WB retained all the original negatives to the pre-48, even if they didn't technically own the cartoons anymore in an abstract sense, so they wouldn't have needed any materials sent back to them.

I suspect that even if they had it in error, no one noticed or cared and it continued to be included with the pre-48 package, and possibly also in any of the various packages available from WB itself.

Didn't Odor of the Day also used to show up in the pre-48 syndication package? (I remember an old LT website saying something along those lines...)

no

it was post-48, and also notable for being the only Pepe Le Pew cartoon with the following distinctions:
*Not directed by Chuck Jones (rather, Art Davis directed it)
*Pepe is not a lovebird
*Nor does he have a French accent

I remember reading that too. It might have been posted on Jon's original website but I can't remember since this was about 12 years ago. I do remember it was posted on a site before the Turner/WB merger took place. I think it was more along the lines that Turner and Warner Bros. had both claimed ownership to "Odor of the Day".

It's debatable whether or not that was really Pepe, though. It may have just been another skunk who looked like him.

I think the site where the Odor factoid came from was the old Nonstick site. Though I specifically remember that when I first saw the site, it did say that the title whose ownership was in doubt was...Daffy Dilly.

The aforementioned copy of Daffy Dilly with an AAP intro could then actually be legit, especially if the recording in question came off of an old film-chain-era/pre-Turner syndicated TV airing...

That's it. It was the Nonstick Looney Tunes Pages. It actually still exists, and the information is given in the FAQ section. It has to have been a good 10-15 years since the site was last updated because quite a bit of the information was once believed to be fact but has since been proven to be false. When I first found the site, I found it useful with its comprehensive listing of Looney Tunes available on VHS and Laser Disc, but shortly after I discovered the site, I quit going to it because it wasn't being updated as new videos were released.
