This may be old news, but I found out yesterday that music from the very popular Internet video The Hamster Dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqnf6kWUaXo) comes from a Disney cartoon feature. The cartoon is "Robin Hood" (1973), and the "dee die doo" tune is a speeded-up sample of "Whistle Stop" by Roger Miller (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:39fixqw5ldse). You can hear the sample 0:29 into this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkdT4sslCV8). (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkdT4ss)

There's only 3 things "Robin Hood" (1977) is actually remembered for:

1. The constant rotoscoped animation.

2. The only good animation being the scenes done by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.

3. That danged Hamster Dance.

While this is not quite in the same league of well-aged cheese as the Hamster Dance, it still makes a nice sandwich. Or something like that.

Oh No! It's Caramelldansen with the Krust Cousins! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LokuTPIEHVA&feature=related)

Technically 1973 was when it came out I think.

1. The constant rotoscoped animation.
You mean copied animation from previous movies like Snow White.

2. The only good animation being the scenes done by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.

3. That danged Hamster Dance.
Which I don't care to remember at all.

I found that out a few years ago when Dr. Demento pointed it out on air, playing a snippet of the Roger Miller tune and then segueing into the H. Dance. Wikipedia's
entry on the H. Dance says that supposedly Disney's folks demanded the sample
of the song be removed due to copyright infringement (though it's only a 9 second sample). But as far as I know the sped-up Miller never did get removed.
The song is popular on Radio Disney, actually...

Speaking of cartoons and "samples", the folks who did those TV's Greatest
Hits albums put out a 12 inch single, a dance song which had various TV
themes and moments remixed, and "Meet the Flintstones", and "Jane, stop this
crazy thing!", were among them. The Jetsons theme was the base for the song.

Found that out at least a year ago the same way myself. I don't really have much of a memory of Disney's Robin Hood-although I know I've seen it once or twice when I was little.

Truthfully-I love the hamster dance.;)

Hey Matthew, you should re-upload your "Ice Ice Baby" video, with the Coyote, if you still have it!

I'm surprised you still remember that! I don't think I still have it.
