Which of the two is the character in terms of...
1. Characterization?
2. Storytelling?
And your reasons for each?

Sure, Bugs is a chameleon, but Daffy is the better-realized character. He's the likable, but temperamental, person we've all known at some point in our lives. He has very human flaws. Bugs nearly always gets away with everything. He's the trickster. Daffy is the schlub who always lets his personal failings come back to bite him in the butt. That's why I love Daffy.
I love Bugs, too, of course.

Wow, I always wanted to open such a thread. :)
IMHO Daffy is better and more likable. He is a comical genious.:daffy:

If you must know the truth-I like both equally. The weird part is that originally Bugs also had his own flaws and Daffy could defeat his foes with his brains and also be somewhat of a trickster. I guess I like both-Bugs is the person everyone wants to be-likable, calm in the midst of danger, and a streetsmart, smart-alecky trickster. Daffy on the otherhand is what most of us truely are. He's greedy, zaney, cowardly, arrogent-Bugs' polar opposite.I remember hearing in a Chuck Jones documentary that Jones himself always wanted to be Bugs Bunny but admitted that he was like Daffy. Daffy is a more realistic(in other words human) character. He has his flaws-he certainly isn't perfect-and he often faces failure-yet that's what makes him so entertaining.
So in the end I like Bugs because he's everything one admires and longs to be and Daffy because there's a but of Daffy in everyone somewhere.

I do love Bugs, but I've always thought that Daffy was my favorite cartoon character- specifically the Daffy of the 1940s- the zany, giddy little black duck of pictures like "Daffy Doodles" or "The Wise-Quacking Duck". That kind of silly, over-the-top humor has always appealed to me. Granted, Bugs had the same sense of mischief and fun, especially in the '40s, but even Bugs at his zaniest never went as far as Daffy. There's just something about that kind of anarchistic, nutty humor that makes Daffy my favorite.

Both characters changed over the years, but BUGS seemed to remain basically something of a rebel in his own right. DAFFY changed from being goofy to becoming a bumbling egotistical character, and eventually a grouch. As for which is the better character, it's like asking which you prefer, an apple or an orange.:bugs2: :daffy:

I accidentally voted for "Bugs." Would it be possible to change my vote to "Daffy"?

Well, remember that it was ultimately Jones who was responsible for modifying Daffy's personality like that. Starting more-or-less with You Were Never Duckier and solidifying with The Hunting Trilogy.

Daffy, with a doubt.
I think Daffy stood for that spirit of wild anarchy that's behind some of the best of the classic Hollywood cartoons.

That's basically what I meant, and I wish I had put it that way because it's well-said! :)

I like Daffy better. He's funnier, I identify with him better, and all I have to say is, RABBIT SEASON! FIRE!!!

I see that Daffy is winning. I agree due to the fact that he's versatile.

I love both characters. I think Daffy was the more versatile of the two. Unfortunately, his character was also ruined by the late 50's/early 60's when they made him a humorless villain.
