Now that we classic Warner Brothers cartoon collectors find ourselves solidly in the DVD era, I thought it would be appropriate to look back at our commercially produced vhs tape collections and single out our favorite tapes, telling why we picked them. Here are my 5 all time favorites:
1. "Bugs Bunny Superstar" (Cartoon Moviestars)
What's Cookin' Doc?/(The) Wild Hare/I Taw A Putty Tat/Rhapsody Rabbit/Corny Concerto/Walky Talky Hawky/The Old Grey Hare/My Favorite Duck/
Hare Raising Hare
- A great mix with some "A" list shorts, & the documentary footage with Tex Avery & Bob Clampett adds a lot!
2. Bugs & Daffy: The Wartime Cartoons
Herr Meets Hare/Draftee Daffy/Plane Daffy/Daffy The Commando/Falling
Hare/Super Rabbit/Russian Rhapsody/Swooner Crooner/Little Red Riding
Rabbit/The Weakly Reporter/5th Column Mouse
- Always a favorite (until I saw the cartoons that got left out!). Bugs & Daffy at their best with the delightful "Russian Rhapsody" to top it off!
3. Golden Age Of Looney Tunes Volume 10: The Art of Bugs
All 3 Tortoise & Hare shorts!/Bugs Bunny Gets The Boid/Old Grey Hare/
Bugs Bunny Rides Again/Haredevil Hare
- A very strong collection from WB's "Golden Era" with some Clampett power houses!
4. Tweety & Sylvester (Cartoon Moviestars)
Tweety Pie/A Tale of Two Kitties/The Gruesome Twosome/Birdie And The
Beast/Life With Feathers/Crowing Pains/Back Alley Oproar/I Taw A Putty
Tat
- All 3 Clampett Tweety's, the best Tweety & Sylvesters with Back Alley Oproar & Crowing Pains to top it off. Lots of "First" cartoons, even though another tape in this series had that title. I love the visual look of Grusome Twosome! To a Baby Boom generation viewer raised on post 1949 shorts this cartoon packs a wallop!
5. Porky Pig And Company (Cartoon Moviestars)
Old Glory/Trap Happy Porky/Wagon Heels/Tom Turk And Daffy/Nothing
But The Tooth/The Aristo Cat/Mouse Menace/Roughly Squeeking
- Some Porky favorites in color (2 westerns!), a good Porky & Daffy short that I could never tape well off TV, Hubie & Bertie & that robot cat! Woo Hoo!
Honorable Mention: Just Plain Daffy & the "Inside Termite Terrace" tapes
It's probably obvoius that I prefer Clampett shorts, older shorts & rarely seen shorts.
Which tapes are your favorites?

The VHS tape that got truly worn out from playing was from the 24-Karat Golden Jubilee collection - "Daffy Duck: The Nuttiness Continues". Black and white prints of The Daffy Doc and Porky's Duck Hunt, along with an unedited Beanstalk Bunny. What's not to like?
Oh, and it opens with Duck Amuck.
Duck Amuck / The Daffy Doc / Beanstalk Bunny / Deduce You Say / Rabbit Fire / Drip-Along Daffy / The Scarlet Pumpernickel / Porky's Duck Hunt

I grew up with the Golden Jubilee tape of Pepe Le Pew cartoons. That one compilation was almost single-handedly responsible for my love of Warner Bros. cartoons to come to fruitation.

Curtain Razor/Boobs in the Woods/Often an Orphan/You Oughta Be in Pictures (B&W)/Wearing of the Grin/Mouse Wreckers/Cracked Quack/Dough for the Dodo

Duck Amuck/The Daffy Doc (B&W)/Beanstalk Bunny/Deduce You Say/Rabbit, Fire!/Drip-along Daffy/The Scarlet Pumpêrnickel/Porky's Duck Hunt (B&W)

The Golden Jubilee Series - This is the one set that I plan on hanging on to long after it deteriorates
Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote: The Scrapes of Wrath
Daffy Duck: Tales from the Duckside
Tweety: Tweet & Lovely - It may sound weird, but at the time of its release, the majority of the cartoons on this compilation were only seen butchered on ABC!
Elmer! - Substantial evidence to me as a child that Warner cartoons were funny before the Road Runner came around...
Bugs & Daffy: The Wartime Cartoons
Stars of Space Jam: Bugs Bunny
That has to be the most interesting Bugs Bunny collection Warners ever put out, as none of the cartoons on it feature any of Bugs' popular and reoccurring costars!

Sadly, I've never seen the GAOLT tapes or laserdiscs. My favorite tapes though would have to be the Golden Jubilee (when I first became a serious Looney Tunes collector; I have all but Pepe and Foggy) and more recently the Columbia House Collector's Editions. I picked up quite a few from Ebay. :bugs2: :daffy: :sylvester

Porky Pig Tales has "China Jones" and an unedited "Dog Collared", which is so much better than the edited one Cartoon Network showed. I only have the "Salute to Chuck Jones" tape from the Golden Jubilee series, but it's top notch!

Well, in terms of VHS tapes among the many Warner Bros. cartoon titles issued, I used to constantly played as personal favorites more often were "Daffy!", "Porky!", "Bugs Bunny Superstar" and the single cassette "The Golden Age of Looney Tunes: Volume 3 - Tex Avery" (all from the MGM/UA Home Video label). However, as I was building a modest tape and laser disc collection of newer titles when later released (either from WHV or MGM/UA), I usually tried to play them at least once or twice at best.

Ok, my turn:
Speedy Gonzales' Fast Funnies - Definitely one of my favorites! I don't get tired of it...! ANDALE!!!:speedy:
Elmer Fudd's Comedy Capers - Some great cartoons on this tape, like "Hare Brush" and "Bugs' Bonnets" to name two. After all these years, my copy is in great shape!
A Salute to Friz Freleng - the first classic animation tape I ever received (got it as a gift for my birthday). The box is looking a bit worn, but the cartoons are in good condition...!
GAOLT video #7 - Bugs Bunny By Each Director - because my version is the one with "Bugs Bunny Nips The Nips", I have been offered a lot of $$$ for it. I won't sell though...
VIDEO TREASURES - Terrytoons: Heckle & Jeckle - I have all but one of the videos distrubuted with all Heckle & Jeckle cartoons. Sure, they're TV prints (a couple have original titles), but H & J were the best Terrytoon characters created!

"Sniffles the Mouse Cartoon Festival" was pretty good. The Golden Jubilees were also highly entertaining.

Just off the top of my head:
"Bugs and Daffy: The Wartime Cartoons"

"Daffy Duck: The Nuttiness Continues"
"Sylvester and Tweety's Crazy Capers"
"Looney Tunes Video Show #1"
"Stars of Space Jam: Daffy Duck"
"Bugs Bunny Superstar"

The only official VHS release I've got is Stars of Space Jam: Sylvester & Tweety. I've gotten plenty of mileage out of it since so many of the shorts on it are edited on CN.:sylvester :tweety:

Daffy Duck: The Nuttiness Continues!
Far and away my favorite. In fact, I had to transfer the tape to a new cassette casing, because the original broke from overuse! (Believe It or Don't!)
However, I am SO looking forward to seeing "Porky's Duck Hunt" restored, at the correct speed, and with the correct opening music on some future LTGC set.
(Frankly, given "Dough for the Do-Do" was on Volume 1, I would have put "Porky's Duck Hunt" on Volume 2 and saved "Wackyland" for a future set. But that's just me.):daffy:
