Okay, so 2008 is almost over. Over at Cartoon Brew Jerry (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/ideas-commentary/cartoon-brew-2008-favorites-jerrys-picks) and Amid (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/ideas-commentary/cartoon-brew-2008-favorites-amids-picks) made a list of their favorite animations from the year.
So does anyone here want to make their own list? If so this topic is for you.
Because I haven't looked at new animation as much as they have, my list is limited and will also feature comics just to pad things up.
Animated Short
I enjoyed "Presto," a short film from Pixar that was released with Wall-E. In fact, I enjoyed it more than the feature presentation itself.
TV Series
Amid listed "Superjail," so I'll list Cartoon Network's "Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack." I'll admit it took a while for me to get used to, but I think each passing episodes are better than the last and I see potential to it. The show's animation can be really gruesome, though. Maybe more than Ren & Stimpy (don't let John K. know about that). I also enjoy "Chowder," which began last year although I didn't get around watching it until this year.
Comics - Syndicated
"The Knight Life" by Keith Knight. A fun, quirky strip about a black cartoonist living in southern California, loosely based around his more adult-oriented "K Chronicles" strip. Has a fun, loose artwork which the artist admitted was somewhat based on classic animation (he cited Bob Clampett in at least one interview).
Comics - Internet
Imagine This (http://imaginethiscomic.com/) by Lucas Turnbloom. It's about a grown man who reunited with his imaginary friends. Unfortunately the friends are not as what he remembers. Kinda like what it would've been like if Calvin grew up.
