A very funny U.S. Acres cartoon where they try to do nursery rhymes. This was from the final season so it was never seen in syndication.

That short is hillarious-especially for the part in which the weasel is continuously refered to as "The weasel from last season's show who keeps trying to eat all our chickens" Sadly-the sequel to this short "The Return of the Incredibly Stupid Swamp Monster" is not nearly as funny as this one-also-the Incredibly Stupid Swamp Monster pulls a gag from "The Abominable Snow Rabbit" Hint-it involves constantly hugging a weasel!
Oh yeah-and the "Kiddie Korner" one is funny as heck!

Yeah I saw that too. The designs in US Acres comics changed but this happened after the animated series started.
My guess is that the model sheets for the original characters are written in stone and the animators couldn't change. However newer characters could be drawn in a different style.

Wow, that's a great parody, and Foray makes it even better. I thought I'd seen all of the Powerpuff Girls cartoons whether I liked it or not, but I have never seen this one! It's a shame Cartoon Network killed the Powerpuff Girls by over-exposing the show and promoting it as a girlie kids' show, the exact concept it was designed to make fun of! I hated it because it was on CN so often that I felt like it was being shoved down my throat...but compared to the crap CN has now, it was great. At least it had actual humor!

I think this marks the only time a Pulitzer prize-winning editorial cartoonist had a Saturday Morning show.
While not as good as the strip it was based on, some episodes were decent. I know Mike Peters tried to put out a DVD collection but had to put it on hold because of the copyright issue (the show is owned by MGM)

There will be one more new "Powerpuff" material airing on CN - a half-hour special that will air on the show's 10th anniversary. According to the creator on his deviantArt account (http://cmcc.deviantart.com/journal/) it will air on Jan. 19 and the special is being animated in Flash by the Foster's Home crew.
Foster's Home is pretty much gone, too, BTW (CN did a revamp and cancelled all the shows that started before Fall 2007.) The final batch of episodes is expected to air in February.

Not that we're missing much if it was edited; most of the episode consists of reused animation (in this case, done on purpose).

Truthfully I was a great fan of the Powerpuff Girls. It unfortunately started to go downhill after the movie aired-the 5th and 6th season episodes were usually quite weak(I see a Funny Cartoon in Your Future is an exception) due to McCracken moving on to work on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Also-right after the 10th aniversary special to be aired on the 19th of January, January 20th-an entire DVD containing every PPG episode will be out. I honestly can't wait for that-although I won't be watching most of the later episodes from Seasons 5 and 6.

Kinda amused at how they tried to work around placing in the "Orson's Farm" logo that still gets cut off on both sides of the screen (still really don't care for that name personally but, eh..). Couldn't really spot anything out of the ordinary being edited out of this episode. but I get the impression someone may end up using it as poop material someday. :p

Man, I can't believe that this was made by the same people that made "Rugrats"...and other shows I won't bother mentioning.
Cbrubaker: This Blue Race cartoon was animated in Pegbar Productions, a studio based in Barcelona (my hometown!) and headed by American Bob Balser (misspelled 'Balsar' in the credits), which existed from 1972 to 1993. I also noticed the 'fake' names in the credits (looks like they prefered to use such fakes, rather than showing on screen the names of the actual Spanish animators!). Pegbar also made for DePatie-Freleng three Hoot Kloot shorts and one half of the hour-long special LUVCAST (aired on ABC´s 'The Saturday Superstar Movie').
It is true that DFE retained most of their work in-house, though I think that some of their later series (such as 1979´s Spiderwoman, made one year before they closed shop) were already farmed out to Korea or somewhere else.

I love that episode; I agree, Duckman was great! My two favorite episodes are "The One With Lisa Kudrow in a Small Role" (with Ajax voluntarily going to another planet to study the alien life there first-hand and getting acquainted with the fellow specimen..... which later leads to the extreme downfall of the same planet! ) and "Love! Anger! Kvetching!" I may draw some heat for this, but it is animated and it sure as hell made me laugh. This is the sixth and final theatrical "Pokémon" short subject, "The Dancing Pokémon Secret Base" from 2003. There's a pretty heavy classic animation influence in this one - parts of it feel a lot like a Japanese version of a Tom and Jerry cartoon (especially the scene in the dining room in part two), and the animation is much more squash-and-stretchy than usual. Definitely worth a look!

Funny she had to ask him about that one episode where they mocked a studio where the animators were enslaved, glad Shin was able to pass that off well.

Note that Chuck Jones is credited as a producer. Originally he was supposed to direct it (after the Grinch and Horton specials) but MGM shut their studio down, so the production was moved to DePatie-Freleng (run by Chuck's colleague at Warners', Friz Freleng) with Hawley Pratt directing.
As a result, this is the only time Jones was credited in a DFE production...not counting the later Looney Tunes specials that DFE made using clips of old WB cartoons.

God you're so negative. I would've loved eating at a place like this if I knew one existed in my youth.
Best i had was a restaurant close by that had the same architecture as an Ihop, though was named something else (bothering to enclose a pic of it here, since the place no longer exists as a big chain drug store took over the land).

There's something about the show that I liked. Even back then I thought the story was boring but I remember that I really liked the loose animation style. It was different than the thick-lined, "retro" style that CN loves so much.
I remember thinking that the art style was similar to Paul Coker Jr's, so imagine my surprise when I read the credits. Apparently Coker DID work on the show as a character designer.
Strangely, Maxwell Atoms is also credited as a layout artist. Either Billy & Mandy wasn't renewed for another season yet or he was helping his friend out.

The earliest B&B appeared on MTV would've been the fall of '92 on Liquid TV, the TV series itself began around March of '93 I believe (this was all after the first animated shorts Judge produced made their way through Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation). This "Spring Break" special came out a year later, so you're correct.

Well, yes..... and, of course, Harpo Marx was famous for being the one Marx Brother who never spoke but only communicated through pantomime so any chance I had at THAT age of finding out he was really a man (even in terms of voice impersonation for an animated cartoon) through his voice would have been totally nil.

To be honest I can't stand this prototype for the blue racer-I prefer the version that eventually came to be his standard style. I dislike the voice Bob Holt gave the racer-especially that annoying laugh! I also don't know who was voicing the Japanese Beetle in this one(Perhaps Holt as well) but I find his voice to be too high for my taste too. I prefer Tom Holland's voice for the little guy-or the voice for him in "Hop and Chop" However-I will admit that the "Son of a Bee" gag is hillarious.

I'm pretty sure Holt did both characters' voices in that film.
Then again, not even DFE credited all their voice actors. In the final BR short, Little Boa Peep, there's definitely Paul Winchell voicing some of the characters, although only Larry Mann is credited (Paul did recieve screen credit in Killarney Blarney and Blue Aces Wild, tho...)

Well, scores like that would have sounded weird accompanying Bugs Bunny in anything other than a "go-go" Kool-Aid commercial. Maybe what this tells us is that it's too bad Milt Franklyn died in 1962 rather than in 1968...

I agree. The Sheriff seems to remind me of a cross between :ysam: and a human version of :foggy:, mainly due to the voice Mel Blanc used for him. I DO think this kind of scene would've been funnier: instead of just smashing the Sheriff's car as he lies there, as Bunny and Claude charge towards him the Sherrif goes "WhoooooAAAUGH!" in shock, then when Bunny and Claude smash the Sheriff's cruiser, you'd see the Sheriff and the car parts flying through the air as the Sheriff clutches onto his steering wheel, THEN he would fall to the ground and his badge would bounce off his nose.

I had all 17 shorts (with time codes) but alas I don't have it with me now.
You're not missing much, though. They were very much remakes of older WB shorts. One of the shorts, The Goose That Laid a Golden Egg, was almost a word-by-word remake of Freleng's Golden Yegg, complete with the closing line "Oh my aching back"
Friz Freleng was credited for story on that one, so he clearly had his older short in mind.

Well, you might as well get used to it. They cut and suspend users right and left if they put up too many "forbidden" videos (they, ah say, they have a skin about as thick as a sheet of paper that's been cut in half:foggy: ). They suspended Amoreska and another user who I subscribed to that I was really getting to enjoy in less than a week which I discovered last night as well. I'm getting just plain sick and fed up with this!
I'm starting to wish people would start turning more to DailyMotion in terms of uploading videos. As far as I know, that site is much more safe in terms of user longevity. Hmm-I've never seen this one before-IMO it wasn't the best-not enough violence!:D (Ironically that's what I use to dislike about Tom and Jerry) Another bizarre thing is that Jerry is actually a pet in this cartoon and the owner is too kind to Tom-not getting extremely upset when discovering that Tom is ONCE again wrecking the house. Perhaps Tom does this thing daily. Mind you the owner's behavior is better than Dietch's animal abusing ugly owner-yet he should at least have been more like Mammy Two Shoes who took no nonsense from Tom whenever he left the house in shambles.

I often think of Godfrey as such a bold man for what little he uses on the screen, yet he proves such a point about the effectiveness of the medium to say what you want. His later work of course went from advertising to children's films, as well as more personal films he made on the side just to have fun with the subject of sex. Sometimes the best not seen on screen can also prove to be really hilarious on it's own, such as 1980's "Instant Sex". I just love the outcome of that one.

Glad for that (though in widescreen I bet it was quite impressive for what they were able to put on film). Again, this is why we wish we could see these things restored on DVD for that reason. Hopefully when CBS puts out that Terrytoons DVD, they may consider adding one or two of these on there if possible. That's probably my favorite-ever UPA cartoon (ironic being the first UPA cartoon!). I agree with Thad, John Hubley (director of Robin Hoodlum and the earlier Mr. Magoo shorts) was easily the most talented of UPA's staff and the most able to pull off a decent and wholly entertaining UPA cartoon.

Holy crud! You're right; I'm guessing that was the result of a very bad overlaying layout shot. I thought "Skyscraper Caper" [WB/1968] was the only cartoon in which the "characters are as big as a house" blooper was made (Speedy being the character in that one who has a house the size for himself).

I remember seeing Riot in Rhythm first before the other, and somehow it clicked far better watching Me Musical Nephews in the end as the brisk pace of those gags felt fresh than what they tried to do 8 years later. Why they even think they could re-do the same cartoon again I'll never know (but as you said, probably to fulfill whatever quota was at hand). Notice Kneitel gave himself writer's credit for the later short too, guess as to not mention the previous writers for the other short while making it seem like a new cartoon in the process.

Why is that not on DVD? It is Superb version.

Huh, I didn't know you knew Hellsing. Interesting. Hey Brandon, if you're interested on the stuff he ranted, let me know.
For instince, I know ALOT about the whole Spax thing. (I was there in the middle of it) :)
And BTW, some Sonic fans aren't THAT insane. Trust me on this. And don't get me started on the whole voice actor thing. That now gives me a headacke.

Too late I guess. Here's the message I got when following that link, "This Account Is Suspended".

Luckily I saved a bunch of his videos using Tubesucker (mostly Coal Black and a handful of shorts not on DVD yet)

Ah yes. This had to be the most requested DePatie-Freleng cartoon ever. I often got emails asking me where they can find this special.
Anyway, I had a 16mm transfer of this cartoon (from the Films Incorperated syndication print) and wow, apparently the version I had was incomplete.
In the syndication copy they actually made the ending shorter. For one thing, they took out the animation where the girl regained her ability to walk. The edited version just showed the girl waking up and then cutting to her going to the window and seeing the animals sing (I assumed she got in her wheelchair that was off-screen). Then fade out.
Must've been for time reason. Pretty strange to edit out a HAPPY ending...
