Donald's Duck Hunt? A Duck hunting DUCKS?

Oh, boy...

Congratulations, Thad... you've just found one of the single most incongruous images in all of Disney comics! (Another great one is Minnie seeing a nonhumanized mouse— she shouts and jumps onto a chair...)

Wow...and I thought that "Huckleberry Hound" episodes where

Where he was a mailman trying to dodge dogs to deliver a mail.
Where he was a dog catcher.

was screwed up...I'll bet it would be better if Daffy Duck did this...

I wouldn't put it past DePatie Freleng to make Daffy a duck hunter. ;) It always annoyed me that they made him a hunter in "Suppressed Duck".

Of course, the other hunter appears to be a dog, but the same story featuring a hunter dog and a hunter's dog (if you take my meaning) isn't quite as ludicrous as a duck hunting ducks...

Disney's always been a bit messed up when it comes to anthropomorphism - we have Goofy (aka Dippy Dawg) but also Pluto... "Pinocchio" features a catlike cat (Figaro) and a silent but nonetheless anthropomorphic cat (Gideon).

Actually, I seem to remember a Donald cartoon ("Duck Pimples" by Jack Kinney?) where Donald pretends to be a duck decoy/trophy on his mantlepiece to fool a bad guy. This might be the most absurd case, as the cartoon is acknowledging that Donald is the same type of creature as a 'normal' duck, while at the same time presenting him as the sort of person who would go out hunting ducks!

the cartoon you mean is LION AROUND ( 1950 , JACK HANNAH )

and DUCK PIMPLES was directed by Jack King just to let you know...

Good catch, Dodgers!
Hmm... discovering you're from Italy, I'm curious as to whether black-and-white Felix shorts have ever been released on VHS there. I have some Italian friends, but none of them specialize in Felix— have you spotted anything?

Uhmm....I don't know about any vhs collection of Felix the cat...only a few of them cartoons ( mostly the PD ) were aired in tv...

I'm sure it was Jack Kinney (not that it's really relevant to the discussion) who directed Duck Pimples.

Yup it was Kinney who directed it! Says so here (http://disneyshorts.toonzone.net/years/1945/duckpimples.html).

They made fun of that in one of the Mad Magazine issues in the 1970s that 'saluted' comics. Donald observes this and says "Sheesh, a little popularity and they forget about their relatives!"

Yeah, the Mickey/Pluto thing always bugged me...a mouse with a dog who is smaller than he is. Maybe Pluto's a type of chihuahua?!

Of course, there have been more bizarre things like that. Remember WB's "Often an Orphan", when Charlie Dog offers Porky Pig some ham and eggs (carrying a non-humanized pig and a chicken under each arm)!

another funny thing is when you see Horace Horsecollar riding an horse in some of the Floyd Gottfredson' s daily strips or sunday pages!

I always thought of that as a joke - Charlie Dog is offering Porky the most inappropriate thing possible. Similar to the "Yankee Doodle" stuff from DOG GONE SOUTH.
