There is a website named LikeTelevision. For a long time now they have had the cartoon "Crowing Pains" up for viewing. The cartoon itself was a blue ribbon, but a mock-up of a title card appeared alongside it. (the first attachement) This has been up since before the restored titles on the upcoming GC for "Crowing Pains" had been announced. Somebody at that website must have seen an original print before all this, because the mock-up is amazing close to the original. (the second attachement)

By the way, the cartoon was recently taken down.

That's interesting...the "Like Television" title is actually a scene from near the end of the finished cartoon with text placed over it. Obviously the creator of the new card and the creator of the original both liked that image!

I am sure it was just a coincidence.

The first frame looks like a latter day recreation since the lettering (font) is not true to the era that the cartoon was originally made in.

Where did you find the original title card of Crowing Pains? Jerry hasn't released it yet.

Thanks, Brandon. Those are beautiful. I would never have guessed that the title card placed the characters so far into the distance.

I agree the original title is beautiful.

It's so hard to believe that Henery Hawk was originally supposed to be the star of the Foghorn Leghorn series. Even getting his own "Henery Hawk In" opener.
Don't forget, there's actually extra dialogue and animation included with the restoration on Crowing Pains as well!

From that screenshot my guess is that Henery looks as if he's actually speaking... so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the missing animation was taken out. He may have been telling his story while the cartoon opened and before the credits... which is why when the cartoon was BR-ized, all of that would be chopped off.
I guess we'll find out soon enough

I haven't seen the GC yet, but I did get a copy of the Spotlight Collection -- in addition to "Crowing Pains" and "Ham in a Role," I spotted two other cartoons that had the original opening instead of Blue Ribbons: "Dog Gone South" and "It's Hummer Time." Not a big deal, but I'm glad WB has finally started doing this (where possible) even for BRs that have the credits, because it just looks nicer.

Well, that's nice to know. Now, what about Often A Orphan opening credits (not there)?
Anywho, I personally think Henery will talk after the credits starts but before the cartoon begins. And I must say, whoever did that fake title card musta like that shot or something.
And to think, this all wouldn't be noticed if that opening music wasn't covering up that dialouge! :p

Hey, Jaime! If you have the Spotlight Collection and the CROWING PAINS opening in hand now, can you watch it and tell us what Henery says?

Also "From A to Z-z-z-z" which showed up in the Academy Award collection back in January.
There are a number of post-48 cartoons that were among the last group to be BRed in the 1963-64 period that had original copies sent out to WGN and possibly other stations with the 1964 syndication package. They didn't fix up "Cat-Tails for Two" or "A Peck 'O Trouble" when they were put on the Golden Collection, but there are still several others ("Upswept Hare", "Easy Peckins", "Bell Hoppy", "Fox Terror") that can be restored if and when they finally make it to DVD.

DO NOT DO THAT PLEASE!!!!!!!
I would really like to see the cartoon first, fresh in my mind, with as little knowledge of what happens on the opening titles beforehand. So please if there's going to be any spoilers about what Henery says or does, can it please be done through private messaging. Thank you.

OOOOHH, I can't wait! This is just a guess, but I bet Henery says in this opening "AHH, I ain't so little!" like he did at the opening of The Foghorn Leghorn.

Also, I take it by what wasn't said that Birth of a Notion, My Favorite Duck and Fresh Airedale are still Blue Ribbons?
