Just got this and I'm fairly confused. Disc 2 is advertised as including The Year Without A Santa Claus, Rudolph's Shiny New Year and Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey. All three are prominently displayed on the packaging. However, the actual Disc 2 in the set is instead the 2006 live-action Year Without Santa, with no extras or the advertised animated specials.

Anyone have a clue what happened here? Is this across the board on this release or did they just screw up in the packing of this particular set I received?

Is this the version that came out last year (it has a blue storybook-style case)? If so, it is supposed to have the animated version. Sounds like you got an error.

EDIT - Just checked Amazon, I see WB reissued the same set again for 2008 in a red case (adding a few new-to-DVD Rankin-Bass specials into the mix). Still sounds like an error to me, since the animated Heat and Snow Misers are on the cover.

I got mine yesterday, and mine definitely had the deluxe animated version.

I sprung for this and the "Original Christmas Classics" with Frosty, Rudolph, etc. last year at Wally World. I checked mine out and I do have the animated YWaSC and the other two specials as well. As Jon said mine is in a blue storybook-style case. Don't know about the new set though.

Apparently WB has reissued the set again this year. This time in a red case. All the contents are the same as the blue 2007 edition, except they have now added Rankin/Bass' "Pinocchio's Christmas", "The Stingiest Man in Town" and "Lephrechauns Christmas Gold".

That was just released as a "deluxe" edition.

Nope, it's not on it or advertised. It's sold completely separately.

oh and the soundtrack is out of sync on Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July

I wish they'd correct that error. It's been on every set like that, and its standalone, which is the same disc.

My wife bought a copy of the blue set last year for our daughter that also had the 50th anniversary edition of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I could never figure out why it ended up on a set that was all Rankin-Bass specials otherwise, other than the fact that WB owned the rights to all of them.
