From a recent press release:

"Pink Panther & Pals" is a 26 episode animated TV series featuring the Pink Panther as a rambunctious teenager who, along with his friends, gets into all sorts of mischievous capers and hilarious escapades.

"The character is drawn a little younger to depict the Pink Panther as a teenager, although he will be instantly recognizable with his signature walk and devil-may-care attitude," said David Corbett, Executive Producer.

Favorite characters from the original series such as Ant and Aardvark and new characters Hoarse and Dog join the Pink Panther in his daily adventures. In every episode the Pink Panther will interact with his pompous and problematic arch-nemesis Big Nose -- who always tries to spoil the party and stop the Pink Panther from doing what he does best -- having fun.

The musical score and comedy themes will be reprised from the original Pink Panther theatrical shorts and TV series and will be familiar and recognizable to legions of Pink Panther fans the world over.

And in the "fixing what wasn't broken" department, we have...

Those designs look more like first graders than teenagers to me. In fact, had I ever been asked to pin an age on the original Panther, I'd presume him to have been a teen.

This is what happens when you convince yourself that the only possible audience to go after is kids—and that kids only want to watch shows about kids.

If there's any upside here, it's that at least the designs keep the DePatie-Freleng style, as compared to Pink Panther & Sons' earlier repulsive-cute iwaotakamotoism.

Oh yes, i heard of it a few days ago in Toonzone. That's just a odd idea to make in kids/teenagers but at least they keep the original spirits of the theatrical cartoons unlike the 1993's TV series. :thinkpink

"Horse and Dog"? What time constraint were they on to come up with those names?

"Big Nose"? I'm certain that Art Leonardi said once that this character's name is "Friz".

Hopefully the Panther doesn't talk. And if he does, they should get Rich Little.

This is a joke, right? I mean, no one could be that stupid as to actually green-light this ridiculous idea. It's like these new revival cartoon shows are secretly dreamed up by some parodist at Mad Magazine or SNL.

Geez, first we have news of Kung Fu Magoo, now this. The 70's are back. Next we'll see the Pink Panther and friends travel around in a flying ark, saving the environment.

Hey, I'll pay good money to see that... with or without being stoned!

Yeah, not looking forward to see this. Unless Art Leonardi SOMEHOW makes this halfway-decent, this'll be in my "things to watch when you're really (x5) bored" list.

But, let's cross our fingers this won't be like that 90's show they tried. Too bad the only good thing about that was the opening.

Heh, I was thinking of begining this thread when I saw it on Toon Zone, but I knew something like this will happend.

Luckily, they don't include Crazy Legs Crane and this annoying dragon-fly in this show, i must be saved. :D

About environment, the Raccoons writers did a better job in the 80's early 90's..

I thought they abandon this panther idea by now.

That dog was from those shorts in the 60's where the Man has a dog. There was one in 1967 where the guy was trying to get rid of the dog, and he put up signs saying "Fade Dog", "Rot Dog", "No Dogs", etc. and I can't remember the title. (It had the word "Pink" in it.)

I think it's in "Pink Paradise".

I think MGM originally designed Pink and the other characters as babies for merchandising purposes.
"Pink Panther & Pals" have been around for a couple of years judging by this pic.

Add some little Tiajuana Toads(Like that'll ever happen) and a little Japanese Beetle-as well as Roland and Rattfink and this COULD be interesting.

I'm joking really I highly doubt that those first two stereotypes could ever be included.

Lovely. First Muppet Babies, Then Baby Looney Tunes, now this. Is there any depth that IP owners won't stoop to?
