Wikipedia says it won an oscar in 1934, but IMDB, and Disneyshorts.org say this cartoon was released in 1935. Considering Wikipedia is frequently wrong, I'd guess the cartoon was released in 1935. But if that's the case, what cartoon won the oscar in 1934?

Well, the Tom and Jerry cartoons The Cat Concerto and The Little Orphan won their Oscars in 1946 and 1948 respectively despite being released in 1947 and 1949. It's entirely probable that The Tortoise and the Hare, if it was anything like these two cartoons, had a limited release or screening in one cinema which was enough to qualify it for that year's Oscar, before being given a much wider release the following year.

Of course, I could be wrong.

It won for 1935. Three Little Pigs won for 1934.

So.... I messed up on my recent oscar-nominee poll and nobody pointed it out?

Okay. But did "Tortoise" win it's oscar in 1934? I just want to be sure.

It must've been 1934 as Three Orphan Kittens won it in 1935.
