What's Vol. 9 supposed to be?

I hope MGM releases The Inspector, Vol. 2 and Roland & Rattfink seperately... there's no way I am rebuying all the previous DePatie-Freleng DVDs just to get them.
As mentioned in the thread on the News & Reviews board, my guess is that "Vol. 9" will likely be Disc 5 of the original Pink Panther Cartoon Collection Box Set (featuring the remaining PP shorts that werent reissued as part of the single-disc series + the bonus features).

This is one of those times where I'm glad I kept putting off getting the older set.

Hey, I actually got the original set pretty cheap at Best Buy for the price of the Vol. 1 DVD. Only because they messed up their advertisement in their magazine.

I looked at my PP cartoon box, Disk 5 has PP "The Pink of Bagdad" thru "Super Market Pink". The timings for those is circa 1:50 which doesn't leave much room for the features. The disk 9 timing states 119 minutes. As I have all the cartoons except for Vol. 8: Roland and Ratfink, I will certainly not double dip! I note that Vol 9 and 8 have the same timings - perhaps the timing is wrong for disk 9. IF disk 9 is not exactly like the disk in the 5 DVD PP Cartoon box , I would NOT get it..

I agree-more because I'm not desperate enough to buy all that just for Inspector Vol.2 and Roland and Rattfink-nor do I think I'll be allowed to sneak out of the store with only those two discs in tow.:D

A few weekweeks ago I stated that one could get Inspector Vol 2 from Amazon.de (Region 2 PAL). The disk has German and English menus, audio and subtitles. See:

Someone else also got this - see:

Wait a while and see of the singles come out. I don't have "Roland and Rattfink". IF it should come out here - I'll post about it.
EDIT: I see that the 5 disc PP Cartoon box is still available. Until the contents of disk 9 are known, I would recommend the 5 disc box plus the others as singles.

I already have the mammoth 5-disc Pink Panther cartoon set, plus the "Ant and the Aardvark". What more could I possibly NEED? There is definitely such a thing as too much Depatie/Freleng!
At least they didn't bother with the horrible Texas Toads, Blue Racer and Crazy Legs Crane cartoons!

In my honest opinion the Texas Toads aren't bad-if they are left undubbed as the Tijuana Toads(huge difference), also, the Blue Racer was okay-when the Japanese Beetle co-stared with him. That made them hillarious.

In some ways this seems like a blown opportunity...especially since this is the second time they're doing a box set for the Pink Panther.
Cool that they'll be including other DFE cartoons, but just from a layman's perspective...other than being done by DFE, Roland & Ratfink really don't have anything to do with the Pink Panther. However -- maybe they are not some of the best DFE Cartoons, but Misterjaw, Crazylegs Crane and the Texas (Tijuana) Toads were part of the Pink Panther show on television, so it would make sense to include them along with the Inspector and Ant/Aardvark. Of course, I think it should all be in there. Some of these characters would probably be a hard sell on their own.
But seriously, what needs to be included...and I have seen no mention of it...is the Saturday morning interstitial material. I have fond memories of those segments, and I'm sure others who watched the show do too. Furthermore, some of that stuff is included in the Pink Panther shows viewable at iTunes. It really belongs on the DVD set...especially since it wasn't on the previous one.
They'll have a hard time convincing me to double-dip on this. I got the previous Panther set cheap at Sam's, and I have the already-released Inspector, Ant/Aardvark and TV specials discs. I imagine at some point, they'll release the rest of the Inspector shorts separately.
I'm glad all this stuff is available, though.

Yes, he was referring to the "Pink Christmas" DVD that was released last year. It includes all 3 of the primetime PP TV specials DePatie-Freleng did in the 1970s (Pink Christmas, Pink at First Sight, The Olympinks).

Hopefully they'll release those last two discs separately that are unavailable outside this set.
