Yesterday I just got(haven't offically checked as of yet) five or six classic b/w "Kiko The Kangaroo" cartoons from the Terrytoon studios. All of them are in 16mm prints(Castle Films Prints) and only two of the shorts have sound and the rest are silent, but they are still very enjoyable to watch. For me, this marks the first time in over 35 years, since the last time i've seen the heavyweight prizefighting Kangaroo in action and it will certainly bring back some great memories.

Nice find! I myself have gotten three Castle sound prints recently, being Kiko at the Bat (slightly worn), Kiko Cleaned Out (splicey), and another one about winter snow/iceskating.

Which ones did you get?
:D

Wasn't there an entry that Castle titled "On Ice" or something like that? It has Farmer Alfalfa, Puddy, and Kiko (to the best of my recollection)

I'll have to check my print...

Tom and Nelson~

Okay guys... I miscounted in my filmography and left one out of the list (which I don't believe I have). The missing Kiko was originally titled "The Hay Ride", and I BELIEVE it's the cartoon Leonard Maltin identified as "Danger On Ice". (And for what it's worth Maltin also ID'd "Redhot Rhythm" by the title "Ragtime Romeo").

I've got an approx. 40 page hand drawn story board (he drew the cartoon to impress Paul Terry) when Mr. Barbera was interviewing for the job at Terry Toons. It's entitled 'Day at the Races' and features Kiko and a 'dog' character in an airplane race. Of course Kiko wins the race through some fun antics. Any comments on this piece? It's been authenticated by Mr. Barbera to its origin and purpose.

thanks!

Yay! I like Kiko ... he's silly.

(Well, since this is a Terrytoons thread, I had to say something!) ;)

(...even though I own only one Kiko short on tape [so far], "Spring Cleaning" [redrawn])

George W. as the "Kiko and Puddy too. Why not?" Geezil
