The "Rabbit Seasoning" thread reminded me--what would the first cartoon have been to take gag advantage of Daffy's beak as a "detachable" entity? (And are there any other noteworthy animated examples of such detached-beak "bird characters" before the Hunter Trilogy?)

He gets his beak smacked off his face by his domineering wife in "His Bitter Half" [1950] when he refuses to follow her housework orders ("I'd like to see ya!" SMACK! "I see ya!"). He then has to "screw it" back onto the rest of his face.

I think His Bitter Half was the first cartoon to use it. But I could be wrong.
