This has been a terrible weekend, and by extension, an even worse year for the world of celebrities.
Issac Hayes (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=5554035) died yesterday for causes unknown at this point. He was only 10 days away from his 66th birthday. Hayes was an influence on disco music, and also known as the voice of Chef from South Park, but quit the show in 2006 due to sudden conflicts with their Scientology episode.
And one of his contemporaries, Bernie Mac (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=5546912), died on Saturday from a combination of sarcoidosis and pneumonia. He was expected to recover. Mac was known, among other things for The Bernic Mac Show, which highlighted his Chicagonian roots.
Something evil is happening, folks. Something very very evil. :(

Both were incredibly talented entertainers. Bernie Mac, in particular, was only 50 when he died. Let's hope they're at peace right now.

Sad weekend.
Lets hope there both in a better place now.
I was reading that South Park may not continue much longer past there
current contract, do to some issues with Comedy Central, and now
that Comedy wants to make new epsodes of Futurrama since the show
goten more poular since it been both on CN and now them.

Honestly, seeing as to how the last two seasons have been pretty weak, that wouldn't be such a bad thing. I really think the show's been maxed out.

I realize I might piss off a lot of SP fans with this next statement (Remember, folks, it's just my opinion) but, HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I've never liked that show since it debuted eleven years ago and I still hate it today.
But, getting back to Isaac Hayes' death, THAT is truly a shame. He was a very fine musician and a brilliant talent, his stint with that show not withstanding. His silky vocal styling behind the "Shaft" theme is pure mellow music at its' best. He will indeed be missed.

RIP Isaac.
One of my favorite Isaac moments, aside from South Park, is his guest star appearance on "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
You can see his Fresh Air appearance here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrjVRvW608).

He was a great musician, singer & entertainer, but most of all he was an amazing songwriter - look at the Stax catalogue and see the hits he wrote throughout the 60s and 70s, including many classics for Sam & Dave. That is his greatest legacy.

Seriously? I hadn't watched South Park for years (since season 5, I think), but when I watched all episodes from season 11 over a weekend, I thought it was as good as it had ever been. If that season was a slump, I guess I should get my hands on seasons 6-9 asap.

I never heard of his musical songs but i'm sure he was a great talented artist and yet, he's doing very well in Chef's voice. I gonna miss his voice.

Hayes was an influence on more than just disco; he was one of the cornerstones of American soul music, between his own recordings ("the "Shaft" soundtrack and the album "Hot Buttered Soul" - four tracks of pure greatness) and the multitude of songs he and Dave Porter wrote for other Stax records artists as mark J related to (Bugsy-Kin - if you've never heard any songs Isaac Hayes himself recorded - wait, surely you've heard of "Shaft" - you've heard somewhere, somehow, Sam & Dave's "Hold On! I'm Coming" and "Soul Man"). He was one of the biggest music stars of the early 1970s.
Hearing that both him AND Bernie Mac (one of my favorite comedians) died within a day of each other was quite depressing. They will both be missed.
Incidentally, both Hayes an Mac, along with Samuel L. Jackson and Sean hayes, shot a comedy which pays tribute to Stax-style soul singers called, aptly enough, "Soul Men." It comes out in November.

Isaac Hayes was also guest star on three of the best episodes of "The Rockford Files" as Gandalf Fitch ... excellent performances.
So long, Gandy .... :(

Ike Turner...
Wilson Pickett...
Curtis Mayfield...
Isaac Hayes...
In recent times, we have lost many of the great black singers who appealed to music lovers of all colors. Too bad.
