Who's the distributor of this DVD boxset? I would imagine Tribune Entertainment since they currently own what used to be WPIX-TV which was the local station that produced this brilliant program. I would love to get my hands on this.

I used to love that show when I was a kid. I haven't seen it in 30 years - I wonder if it has aged well - lots of 70's clothes & folksy music.

The company distributing the dvd is Koch, it says so on amazon. If anyone is on the fence about buying the dvds, just go to you tube, to watch magic garden clips, to see if this show still holds up for you.

I remember watching the Magic Garden every afternoon on Ch. 11 when I was growing up. There was a lot of good local programming on the local NY stations back in the 70s.

...and here's the missing link (http://www.amazon.com/Carle-Paula-Magic-Garden-Carole/dp/B001C0I60S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1218038373&sr=1-1) (never mind that they managed to misspell "Carole" :shame: ). One more nice bit of classic kids' TV restored to the world.
Also, here's Carole and Paula's Magic Garden website (http://www.caroleandpaula.com/). :)

Carole and Paula were on at 2:30, just before Captain Jack McCarthy and his "Six bells, three o'clock and all is well" presentation of Popeye cartoons. It is nice to know they are still entertaining both children and their old fans too.
Channel 11 had a lot of the great kids hosts: they had Joya Sherill (who was a singer with Duke Ellington), Captain Jack, Beachcomber Bill Beary (who was a staff announcer at the station), Officer Joe Bolton, and Chuck McCann (who was there before Channel 5, IIRC). But the guys at Channel 5 were tops in my book - besides the transplanted McCann, they also had Fred Scott, Sandy Becker, Paul Winchell, Sonny Fox (who's still around -he's hosting a comedy interview show on XM Radio) and Bob McAllister.

It may have aired in the afternoon, but I also recall seeing it at about 5am, which is pretty much when I got up as a kid. I usually watched that and New Zoo Revue.

Shame I can't share in the same memories since I grew up out of the NY viewing area, but I wouldn't mind checking out that DVD if I may. The show reminds me of one I saw locally that featured two women who played a boy and girl ragdoll named "Patches & Pockets." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patches_&_Pockets) It seems to be a show many in the Northwesten Ohio, Southeastern Michigan and Southwestern Ontario areas remember so well from it's airings on WTOL-TV "Toledo Eleven" in the 70's and 80's.

This show introduced me to the sappy King Features 60's Popeye cartoons
and the less memorable Terrytoons in my childhood (guess that was the best WTOL could afford at all), apart from it's usual segments on a variety of educational/safety topics.and whatever else could be done in a hour's time (not sure if it lasted an hour, but I don't feel like doing the research). The only difference though, much like most other locally-produced kiddie shows out there, this one is most likely NEVER to get a DVD release at all. Oh well....

with all of these lesser remembered and more obscure kiddie programs and vintage tv properties being released on dvd as of late, why do we still not have a release of the original b&w captain kangaroo show?
