Don't ask me why, but I've had a song in my head all day today... I know it's done by the Flintstone kids when they were teenagers, but I remember little else about the cartoon... The song was titled, I assume, to be "A Hop Skip and a Jump."

Does anyone know where I can find this song online (preferably a mp3 to download) or who actually sang the song so I can somehow find a copy to get it out of my head? :)

I'm sure if you did a google search, you could find it somewhere in *.wav format.

If there was ever a "decent show based on a bad idea", it would have to be this. Particularly with all its obvious continuity errors (Fred and Wilma already knowing each other as kindergartners, even though the original series frequently suggested they first met in high school).

I believe the show that he is referring to--since he says that the kids are
teenagers--is The Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm Show, not The Flintstone Kids
(in which Fred, Barney, Wilma and Betty are tots). Yes, that latter show
is full of continuity mistakes! :D

You know, given how much of this Smigel-ridiculed sub-Monkee/Archie Saturday morning detritus, from Josie to Goolies to P+B-B, was so vivid a formative musical experience for Gen Xers, I'm wondering how it might have fared commercially had present-day Disneyesque multiplatform marketing logic a la Hannah Montana or High School Musical existed then.

From that standpoint, it's curious how there was no real effort in the first place to "promote" the music beyond its simple presentation in the cartoons in question--perhaps because actual teen-style music-purchasing was viewed as too "profane" an activity for those in single-digit years? Thus whenever a lot of this stuff saw commercial release, it was like a shushed-away reluctant tokenism--and the all too often awkward packaging (like live persons representing the Groovie Goolies or Josie & The Pussycats) didn't help matters.

Maybe the closest to something like this taking place, albeit once removed, was the 90s ironic regurgitation of the Brady Kids' music in all its "It's A Sunshine Day" glory. (And for that matter, maybe this all trickled down into a counter-ironic influence on something like High School Musical--why not, since it's geared t/w the de facto offspring of Gen Xers.)

The song is from the "teenage Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm era," and I believe those songs would have been from The Flintstone Comedy Hour (later retitled The Flintstone Comedy Show). If the Flintstones-related shows continue to get released on DVD, this one should be next.

The only Flintstones Kids tune that I can think of is for the vitamins. "Ten million strong...and growwwwing!" :daffy:

The only episode of The Flintstone Kids that I recall watching at all and somewhat enjoying was the Halloween ep where they are mistaken for bank robbers. I'm sure I'd probably hate this show today...

Did each show feature cameos from Captain Caveman or were made up of shorts segments between the storyline?

Yes and yes. "Captain Caveman and Son" was its own regular segment on the show, while Cap made a cameo during at least one "Flintstone Funnies" segment ("Bedrock 'N' Roll").

Actually, according to Wiki, it might be the Flintstone Comedy Hour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Flintstone_Comedy_Hour). A glance at the "Bedrock Rockers" section shows the song the OP is looking for.
