It's nice to finally see a traditionally animated feature film from Disney.

The animation looks good. Not too stiff.
The backgrounds look like sterile computer graphics.

Well, being that this is an early trailer, I'm sure the background graphics will probably be spiced up before the film debuts. But it looks great! This is the kind of emotion and passion that's been missing from Disney's animated movies after they decided to stop using hand-drawn artwork. Don't get me wrong, I loved Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, etc. But there's a certain level of organic depth and drama in films like Aladdin and Lilo And Stitch tha's missing from Disney's (and any studio, for that matter) CG movies. It was fully rejuvenated with just this short trailer. Of course, CG does have its advantages over 2D artwork (more realism, more believability, etc.). But there have just been TOO MANY damn CG movies over the last five years. To the point where the whole novelty of a fully computer-animated movie is now long gone. Which kind of ruins the whole effect IMO.
Come to think of it, aside from a few direct-to-video films (Jungle Book 2, Lion King 1 1/2, etc), have there been any 2D-animated films released to theaters by ANY production company (let alone Disney) since 2002? The only animated theatrical movies I'm aware of after Treasure Planet are all CG animated. Except one, which is Claymation (Wallace and Gromit And The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit).

Curious George, and the animated portions of Enchanted - both were better than I expected. Then again, it's gotten so that 2-D of ANY kind is refreshing to see on the big screen.
Disney sure knows how to milk the princess formula for all it's worth! :)
The Simpsons Movie. Not that I have seen it yet.

Add the Spongebob Squarepants movie to the list. Both The Simpsons and Spongebob films are just glorified tv shows on the big screen. The animation in these films isn't any better than what you could see on their regular tv series.
I'm a bit disappointed with this clip from Disney. They take up right where they left off, with yet another Princess film. The design of the princess looks typical, just like all their other past princesses. The animation of the frog and firefly looks like it was inspired by Don Bluth.

Yes, the animation wasn't theatrical quality, but there was still a difference. Moreso with the Simpsons Movie, which was just a little bit looser than the show.

After their last few 2D films failed I'm not surprised Disney is playing it safe with this film. And besides, we all know the real reason this is being made is to add an African American princess to the Disney Princess line.

These days, Disney is from Venus while Pixar is from Mars.

Well, looking at Disney's output since the release of Lion King, I would say they have been long on stretching the boundaires of their subject matter, but woefully short on delivering movies worth seeing.
I always wondered why Disney was deliberately staying away from Princess movies when that seems to be a genre they handle so well. Enchanted was a terrific return to the genre for the company as well as offering something new in the mix of live action with animation and the send-up of their history.
I have to be honest, in recent studio history (say, the past 20 years), my favorite animated pictures have been Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin - all of them "princess stories" of a type.
