I am thinking about renting it on Blu-ray probably sometime between its release date and the week after.
I do not care if the color has been tampered with for restoration.
But I just want to know, is there ANY edits on Disney's Sleeping Beauty???

If you're referring to the line "And all the powers of Hell", I'm sure the line will still be kept in and not cut. If they do, there will be Powers of Hell to pay.
I think there was a scene with Aurora smoking a cigarette in the original theatrical release...

20 bucks says they're going to edit that. If so, then Bob Iger has gone P.C.-crazy. He hated "Song of the South", and decided to ban smoking!
:mickey:: Oh, no! I was forced to quit smoking! says mickey.

What do you mean it's a joke? I know you're quoting Foghorn Leghorn (I've seen his cartoons).

Random fact about Sleeping Beauty: NOBODY knows who the actress is that voiced Aurora's mother.

Were previous full-screen versions just the unmatted animation, or was it pan and scan?

The last DVD release had both a widescreen and a full screen version of the film on the same disc. You could choose from the main menu if you wanted to watch the full screen version or widescreen version. I'll have to go back and watch it again but I do not believe that any of it was edited for home video release.

GregThe full-screen version was pan & scan. The cels, backgrounds, etc. were prepared & photographed in widescreen dimensions.
Others more knowledgable than I can answer this more precisely but I believe the process of shooting a film "full frame" and then masking or matting it didn't develop until well after the introduction of widescreen.
Originally, the idea behind widescreen was to offer moviegoers something they couldn't get on TV (seen originally by the studios as "the enemy"). As TV became an important part of a film's revenue stream and with the introduction of video monitoring systems during shooting, that's when the practice of shooting in full-frame, but matting for theaters (and widescreen home video) came into practice.
One wonders as widescreen TVs become more predominant if Hollywood will eventually abandon this practice and return to shooting in pure widescreen.
According to Thad K, though, for some reason, the widescreen version of Sleeping Beauty available on the Special Edition DVD has a portion of the bottom of the picture cropped. To be honest, I never noticed it.
BTW - there is also some strange cropping on the replacement discs for some of the black & white Silly Symphonies - where two of the corners are rounded and two are cropped to sharp right angles.

I haven't watched Sleeping Beauty since I sold it on eBay after I found out I hated it, but one major tipoff is that the MPAA # is cut off in the credits. There may be comparisons online somewhere.
