There is a radio show my dad likes called The Grumbleweeds, which used to air on BBC 2 in the late 1970s/early 1980s, I really like it, but I can not find much info on the internet. Has any of you heard of the show or enjoyed it?
Yeah I've heard of them. When I was a kid I was on holiday and I went with my family to see a live show starring them (this would have been the early 90's so they weren't so famous by then). I'd never heard of them before then (my parents explained who they were), but I remember thinking the show was really funny at the time. The support act was Rod Hull and Emu, which has actually stuck in my memory for longer. If you don't know, Rod Hull was a performer (with a real arm!) who used a big puppet of an emu to abuse people. I distinctly remember Emu stealing a woman's hand bag and chucking all the stuff out of it everywhere!

That sounds really funny. Whoever wants copies of episodes (I have a handful on audio tape but some are incomplete) can message me...

"Weeeeeeeeeee are the Grumbleweeeeeeeds"
I don't recall the BBC Radio 2 series, but I definitely remember watching their successful television series (produced by Granada for the ITV network), shown mostly on Saturday evenings between 1983-88 (most episodes were also repeated on weekday lunchtimes in the summer of 87, I think). It was certainly an odd mix of respectable songs and wacky sketches (the ones with "Shamus O'Hooligan" I found quite funny at the time).
I haven't seen the series for ages (I think it was repeated on satellite TV in the 90's, but alas I had to make do with terrestrial), so I wouldn't know if their brand of comedy would stand up today, but I certainly welcome a DVD release. ;)
