Is there a story behind "Messed Up Movie Makers," which was the last Heckle & Jeckle cartoon, released 5 years after its next-to-last short "Sappy New Year?"

Was Terrytoons trying to revive the series, but didn't go anywhere after this one short? I also notice that its directors (and animators), George Bakes and Al Chiarito, had no other director credits (Al Chiarito was credited as an animator in a lot of Gene Deitch era shorts, however).

I heard that around the same time, they were working on one more Mighty Mouse cartoon which didn't get off the ground.

Bakshi had connection to the last theatrical Heckle And Jeckle short and this short is among the worst of the entire H&J series.
