View Full Version : "The Looney Tunes Show" - 8/14/04

"A Star is Bored" (LT, Freleng, 1956)
"What's Brewin, Bruin?" (LT, Jones, 1948) (Blue Ribbon)
"What Makes Daffy Duck" (LT, Davis, 1948)
Well, that's it, we're officially down to the bare minimum of "Looney Tunes" cartoons per week. At least they have the decency to show a good set - I had never seen "What's Brewin, Bruin?" before today and it's undoubtedly one of the funniest of the Three Bears cartoons.

Worse, "The Looney Tunes Show" didn't even have its own packaging. It was packaged under Boomerang. :( :(
Interesting note: What's Brewin Bruin was the next cartoon released theaterically after What Makes Daffy Duck.
I wonder if they'll have a Daffy cartoon on every show now, esp since it's a half-hour.

At least they still have it on Sunday. So you'll still get your hour of Looney Tunes, just in 2 days. But yes, this is in favor for Miguzi shows on CC's. So the less kids that watch Looney Tunes, the less they will show it. Don't blame CN. They're doing what's best for the network.

So you'll still get your hour of Looney Tunes, just in 2 days.Is that supposed to sound like a privelege? I'm sorry, but one hour of Looney Tunes over the course of seven days is pathetic for a "cartoon" network that has more than 1,000 of these. That's six cartoons for every seven days. Wow, what variety.
So the less kids that watch Looney Tunes, the less they will show it.Hey, you're right, when Looney Tunes is on for one half-hour on weekend early mornings, kids don't watch it. What a statistic -- I bet we could make "Ed, Edd, and Eddy" get low ratings if we regulated it to 7am on Saturdays and Sundays, too.

They have Boomerang to show there Classic Cartoons, sure, the avaliablity for it is limited, but seriously if they don't care for them they wouldn't have Boomerang. I'm grateful for just the 6 cartoons a week.

Boomerang is going to become a pre-school channel in the future, it's more than likely... So yeah, they really care for classic cartoons...

Since Looney Tunes now shows at 5:30 AM my time zone, I only caught the tail end of What's Brewin' Bruin? while feeding one of my babies. Did anyone notice the abrupt cut from when Papa Bear whacked Junyer with a mallet, then there were flashing stars, then Mama Bear was standing in the doorway with a smoking shotgun!
Did miss something here, or was a scene or two cut?
Thanks,
Jeff

They care now, just not in nine months, right?

OK friends:
4 hours a weekend day
3 hours a weekend day
2 hours
1 hour
now one half hour.
That's how it devolved folks, and it is those kids who want the crap. Not us.
Interesting note: What's Brewin Bruin was the next cartoon released theaterically after What Makes Daffy Duck. And they both have a "what" at the begining of their titles. :p

Red Giant, did you register to actually talk about classic cartoons or to just pretend to be the unofficial CN spokesperson? If all your going to do is make inane "Don't blame CN" posts, you might as well leave now.

Basically they removed the 1 hour of Looney Tunes at 7 AM and replaced it with a half hour block during the Boomerang hour at 6:30 AM EST. Check the Cartoon Network schedule online.

I didn't bother to watch this morning's show, so somebody else will have to document it. I'm also retiring as the guy who documents all these things - I decided that getting up at 6:30 in the morning on a Sunday just to watch three Warner Bros. cartoons is not worth it.

I'll take over.
I'm up anyway every morning at that time.

I guess nowadays the 'Golden Collection' DVD's is our best bet for classic cartoons

It seems like CN has gone down the sinkhole lately. Classic cartoons were my reason to watch the network every day. Now it's nothing but a KND/PPG/Kiddie Anime network. I'm telling you, I have a notion to block this lame excuse for a network. Besides, that huge logo, continous showings of the same show and Cartoons Cartoons make CN 100% unwatchable. My friends love classic animation, someone at my school thinks Tom & Jerry cartoons are the best cartoons ever made. God, I hate this channel. I don't see why kids like this junk.

for me the only saving grace for cartoon network is 'family guy' and 'futurama'
other then that i'd pass it up for something else on another network
i'd kinda wish that one of the other networks (nick abc or cbs) would pick up the package b/c imo looney tunes on sat morning TV is like a tridition witch may end at the rate CN's going
I'm with you, Family Guy, Futurama and Looney Tunes are the only reason I turn into that network.
Btw, I hope everybody left some nasty feedback with CN about the change in their schedule. I left some from two different locations (work and home).

Jeff

Btw, I hope everybody left some nasty feedback with CN about the change in their schedule. I left some from two different locations (work and home).
And as always, I hope that feedback was/is more diplomatic than nasty! As one of those creaky ancient sayings goes, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Or something like that.
(BTW, before anyone comments that Geezil's now calling the CN staff "flies," it just ain't so. And that's diplomacy in action!) :sailor:
I'll only say this: If CN suspects that only adults are interested in Looney Tunes, leaving a professional/diplomatic response will only cement that viewpoint :p :daffy:
But by "nasty" I did simply mean negative, not childish. As always, I conduct myself with professionalism.

Jeff

This means that whenever you want to hold your baby, you don't have to wait until your wife hands him over to you!

I've never seen "What's Bruin, Bruin?" It's too bad I missed it. It sounds like a really good cartoon. Hopefully, it will come out on DVD.
