Wondering why there hasn't been any such thing here. Well, let me start with an obvious one: Elmer Fudd in Corny Concerto + Moby. (Won't post pics, but you can if you wanna.)

Top Cat (Hanna-Barbera), Doc (Walter Lantz) and The Cat (Paramount/Famous).

Natasha Fatale (Jay Ward) and Vampira Hyde (Lantz; from the Inspector Willoughby cartoon HYDE AND SNEAK).

Humphrey Bear (Disney) and Fatso Bear (Lantz; from the Inspector Willougby cartoons when he was a Ranger; anyway, both characters were created by Jack Hannah).

Yogi Bear (Hanna-Barbera) and Windy Bear (Lantz; in fact, both characters were voiced by Daws Butler).

Huey, Dewey and Louie (Disney) and the ducklings with whom Baby Huey wants to play with, but they don´t allow him until he saves them from the clutches of an evil fox.

Bristle Hound (Hanna-Barbera´s IT´S THE WOLF) and Muscle Mutt (DePatie-Freleng´s THE HOUNDCATS).

Droop-a-Long (Hanna-Barbera´s RICOCHET RABBIT) and Rhubarb (DePatie-Freleng´s THE HOUNDCATS).

Also in addition to Winston (Hector Heathcote´s pet), another Terrytoons´ clone of Tex Avery´s Droopy was Percival Sleuthhound (from the 1954 one-shot PRIDE OF THE YARD).

I'd say Junyer Bear from the Three Bears series and Junyer from the George and Junyer cartoons would be a better pair.

On personality, yes... But Junyer from the 3 Bears looks pretty muck like Barney.

Barney and Disney's Humphrey would be also a nice pairing.

How is it offensive? It's only a comparison of physical characteristics. The Pope does look like Simon Bar Sinister, so I don't see why Thad should be scolded. If the Pope looked like Cary Grant then you'd have a right to complain about Thad's post.

Well, I'm not against any discussion about religion or politics in a cartoon board, when it's debated in the proper thread, but definately against any flamebaits (either intentional or not). I was involved partly in a heated discussion about the 9/11 attacks earlier, and learnt my lesson. Please be intelligent enough and don't defend the undefendable. Putting here Benedict's portrait and compare it to a given villain's "physical characteristics" IS offensive, period.

PS: I'm not a fan of Benedict and the Christian (or any) church.

There was no discussion about religion in Thad's post or my reply. Likewise, Thad's comparison wasn't flamebait: it followed the format of this thread -- famous people who look like cartoon characters. (Haven't you ever read the original "Separated at Birth" articles in SPY Magazine? They made such comparisons all the time. The more incongruous the comparison, the funnier.) It was not offensive or impious in anyway. It's your business if you see it that way. Maybe you think religious leaders should be exempt from humorous observations about their physical appearances, but please don't project some sacrilegious motive on the rest of us if we don't.

Now, I hope we can drop this claim of blasphemy and continue with the rest of this thread.

Your snide attitude is uncalled for. I didn't treat you that way in my replies. There is no debate because there was nothing controversial about Thad's post. You simply overreacted and read too much into it.

If you're going to hold Thad to some strange standard of "good taste" then you should be fair and include Matthew Hunter in your diatribe, for his harmless "political" post that mentioned Dick Cheney's resemblance to bumbling hunter Elmer Fudd.

I'm willing to drop the matter if you are.

Seriously mate, if someone overreacted this, it's you. Are you Thad's bro or something, you are always cheering for everything he does, and defend him like some precious gem. No beef against you, neither against Thad, just it was offensive. Hard to detail why it was, if you don't get it. MatHunter's post wasn't offensive, Thad's was. It's something like comparing Mother Theresa with Witch Hazel. That's it. Please, let's stop this thing now, and steer the thread back to the road.

You say you want to stop this argument and yet you continue it.

Yes, I am Thad's brother. We were separated at birth, hence the title of this thread. Or it could be that I don't like to see people maligned when they are innocent of any wrongdoing. You say the Pope post was offensive and yet you can't even elaborate on why you feel that way.

In the example you've mentioned there would be nothing wrong with comparing Mother Teresa's physical appearance with Witch Hazel, if the two resemble each other. (Just like it wouldn't be offensive to draw an exaggerated caricature of her features.) That wouldn't take away from Mother Teresa's good deeds. Unless you're saying that religious figures are sacred cows and it is heresy to make jokes at their expense?

Thanks for wishing me a nice day! Here's something I thought you might be interested in: it's from the original "Separated at Birth?" by SPY Magazine. As you can see, Thad wasn't the only person to make fun of a Pope's physiognomy.

It would be a bit problematic if only the Pope and Eichman appeared on the pic (because history). But at this form, nothing is offensive here.
