I saw today on German videotext that from May 1st, they will ban on the radio, fim and TV foreign made catoons from the evening program. From 5PM and 9PM only chinese cartoons will be shown. Already this past September the showing of foreign cartoons was banned to 8PM.
I did a google search "China cartoons" and got the following link which the germans used:

On the upside (if there is one), this doesn't (yet) rule out afternoon classic cartoon blocks between 3:00 and 5:00, like the ones we used to have in the USA. (Sure, I understand that in China, the corresponding audience might not yet be home from school during much of that time, but it's the nostalgic thought ... to say naught of the potential irony ... that counts here.)
As for Scooby-Doo ... well ...

I wasn't sure when kids did get out of school, or do any of them watch TV in the mornings in China as well, but it's kinda dumb if this ban also affects satellite/cable channels that not everyone in the country would be able to afford on top of the terrestrial stations. Again, this is all about politics and 'saving' their animation industry from what I usually hear of (are they really that in trouble, I still think they need to broaden their horizons a bit than to keep telling the same centuries-old crap).

Probably for the best. :D

Wow, just like whats happening here! American cartoons not being shown anywhere, all you can find are Asian cartoons...its not an official ban but still.

This further supports my theory that China's government is slowly but surely determined to ban every single form of entertainment.
