Last year, the Disney company obtained the rights to Oswald, but does that mean they own the rights to the Winkler Oswalds and the Lantz Oswalds too? If so, on the upcoming Woody Woodpecker and Friends v2 set, will we not see any more Lantz Oswalds?
Thank you,
Morty

The Lantz ones are still owned by Universal I think, so we're likely to see more Oswald on the vol 2 set of Woody Woodpecker.

Jerry announced on CartoonBrew some titles of Oswald cartoons to be on the second set of Woody.
Disney at the time being only got the rights to release the pre-Winkler and pre-Lantz cartoons, this means the cartoons Disney itself produced.

Disney owns the Disney-produced Oswald films and the marketing rights of the character itself. They do not own the post-Disney films, however. So in other words, those making the Woody sets can't plaster Oswald's image all over the cover but can use the films as bonus features. :rabbit:

Cording to what Duck Dogers is saying is that
Disney product Oswalds are Disney
Lanz products Oswalds are Universals
but who owns Winklar products Oswalds?
Cartman

Universal owns the Winkler Oswalds, IIRC. They would legally be able to release those cartoons on one of their DVDs if they wanted.
Even though the Winkler ones weren't produced by Lantz, it would still be nice to add them as bonus features on a DVD set.

That's for sure, Cartman. I guess you can say they are "orphaned" Oswalds.

Welll.. I've got a couple of 'em living with me, and they'd love the company of more of their siblings if they are too much for ya to handle Tom! :D

So do you think they're public domain, Tom?

You're a feisty one, aren't you! I too am looking for more to keep my very few "orphans" company. :D Maybe someday they'll all have one big rabbit reunion.
