According to the official Mr. Men website (http://www.mrmen.com/us/), a new series will be airing on Cartoon Network starting in February.

This new series is going to feature changes for some of the characters, particularly Mr. Lazy. Some of the more noticable changes appear to be unfaithful to the original designs by Roger Hargreaves, but hardly surprising since the series is now owned by Chirion, sold after Adam Hargraves picked up the series following his dad's passing.

Too loud and it has poop jokes. Exactly how many nails are on CN's coffin now?

I haven't thought about Mr. Men thing for a long time, seeing that, it's rather a shame how things can't stay the same too long!

(sighs) Oh No! Another charming creation from accross the sea grinds into shaving cream here. For those of you who want to introduce their kids into the Mr Men series, please consider the 1970s UK series with Arthur Lowe narrating, it is really cute and well done. It is available on DVD.

Didn't they do a Mr. Men series for the US already, with live action wraparounds, for syndication?

They did a 90's version, which preceded the 70's/80's British versions as far as I know.

I'm not too sure how this one will turn out. Along with the aforementioned design changes, they're only using half of the Mr. Men/Little Miss cast. And even though one of the executive producers is Darrell Van Critters, some of the writers are those left over from the As Told By Ginger/Rocket Power gang. :shame:

Having finally caught an episode, as CN doesn't seem to be giving this show much accolades, and here are a few things:

- I have mixed feelings about the flash animation. They feature some of the limited coloring and poor perspective that came from the revamped Dexter's Lab episodes, but at the same time, they add to the silliness of most of the segments.

- Despite several redesigns, they seem to be faithful to the characters traits/personalities, which has produced some mildly amusing bits. Except I'm not sure that they need catchphrases (some of which are uttered multiple times throughout an episode).

- Since this is a sketch show, which is a different format from the previous animated adaptions, it's expected that each episode will have random segments relating to a single theme.
However, from what I've seen, these segments have a very loose structure. 1) The narrator gives the introduction. 2) Several characters play in a setup. 3) Story stops for a music video. 4) Story resumes with more characters. 4) Story stops again for a fake commercial. 5) Story continues with even more characters. 6) The narrator wraps it up.
This makes it hard to follow the episode.

Maybe CN doesn't have as much confidence in this as George of the Jungle (which to me, looks like crap), but this appears to be more interesting. Seems like those in charge (even those with questionable backgrounds) are fitting themselves into this new concept, and may take some getting used to. Still, the Mr. Men Show is the rare new show on Cartoon Network that's any good.

The better news is, they are keeping the poo jokes to a minimum.
