I hope there's more hilarity from Starling Cartoons very soon. I can't believe they actually did something like that. The edit they made to "ham Nite" has to be the worst edit I've ever seen/heard. Unbelievable.:eek::eek:

I still can't believe that we really got an official release of the Fleischer Popeyes this year! That was without a doubt my GAC highlight of 2007 and next to the Frontlines release a couple of years back, possibly ever. I still remember the anticipation and excitement the weeks proceeding it's street date and how I desperately pulled out every tactic to get retailers to sell me a copy early. One of my tricks paid off and I ended up scoring the set for half-price! I took the entire day off work to cut through it and it is still in my opinion, the best compiled and most thoughtful DVD collection of golden age cartoons ever released. I can't wait until Volume 2 is formally announced this spring as I'm sure that will be the highlight of 2008 for me as well!

And who could forget "The Termitenator"?

That's it! I'm doing a joke thread about this.

Wow, I can't believe I missed that thread about Starling Films! That's some funny stuff! Those guys' balls must be made of brass to get away with their "improved" versions!

I loved the "Radio Nowhere" video - where did it go?? I can't hear that song anymore without picturing Porky and friends.

Well, this techinically isn't an official DVD release, but a lot of Famous Studios cartoons (particularly the non-PD Little Lulus) that were incredibly hard to see before this year have become much more accessable. Not only because of Jerry Beck's garage sale, but because of an eBay auction from about this past May. A Fellow GAC member won it, and was nice enough to do a tape trade with me.

Some of the GAC 2007 highlights for me included the discovery of this forum, as well as the discovery of Thunderbean's classic cartoon DVD line. I highly doubt I would have found out about any of those releases if not for the GAC. 2007 was also a really great year for classic cartoon DVD releases in general. Excluding Tom and Jerry, of course. :(

Cheers! And here's hoping for another year of great classic cartoon releases!:bugs2:

The main highlight for me has to be the continuation of the Walt Disney Treasures series. We had a couple of very lively ongoing threads that I looked forward to reading for the daily updates, and then at last we got the great news: more Treasures including more Donald.

How i forget the Starling treatment to the vintage cartoons and movies!! Looks like a crude April Fool joke like a few years ago.

So, lots of peoples forget the Harveytoons Show DVD set. Even if it's from the late-90's TV show, i think they did a good job. But too bad they miss the 13 lasts shows include a winner for us: "Winner By a Hare".

The Harveytoons set came out in Nov. 2006 that's probably why it's not getting much mention in the 2007 threads. ;)
