What cartoony stuff did everyone get for Christams this year? I got LTGC Volume 5, and Jerry Beck's Hanna-Barbera Treasury. Both look fantastic. I've only been able to skim them both so far. Merry Christmas everybody!

I didn't get anything concerning animation (got AWESOME gifts otherwise though), but I got The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus for my sister. I actually posted the reason behind tracking down that tape as a gift along with questions about buying it a few weeks ago in preparation. It was a direct hit like a predicted :)

Two pairs of pants (I always need pants :))
A large picture frame containing pictures of exotic cars that I have taken over the years. My wife came up with the idea. She's always thinking of clever things like this. We're redoing a room in the house and when it's done, it will hang there.
My 15-year-old daughter got the best stuff. She got a digital camera, a drawing tablet for the computer, CDs, DVDs, a game for her Nintendo DS, etc.
My wife got the Planet Earth DVD set and a new boom box.

And that, in addition to some well-written checks, is all I gots. No LTGCv5 or WDTs :( But hey, I still got some stuff I asked for cartoon-related.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and I look forward into continuing my enjoyment in 2008. Now, I have to get to sleep so I can return to (ugh) reality. 'Night!

I got about three billion boxes of chocolates and cookies from the little kids in my class, as well as some coffee shop gift cards, a scarf and a really cool glass tic tac toe game. I've been on a diet of chocolate and cookies all week, I think I'm gonna be sick if I even have to look at another chocolate truffle.
Otherwise, I didn't get a single Christmas gift!
But I did go holiday shopping for myself and picked up the new Fantagraphics Popeye book along with the slipcased collection of the first two Dennis The Menace hardcovers, the 'Dark Side of Hollywood' noir set from Kino, the Gary Cooper Signature Collection from Warner Bros., the Criterion Eclipse set of early Sam Fuller films and a bunch of standalone DVD's (The Violent Men, Eyes Without A Face CC, The Naked City CC, etc.) I plan on picking up a few more books today and if I have any money leftover, probably going record shopping this weekend...

The one thing I received, which blew my mind to Wilkes-Barre and back, is a CD-ROM containing the 700+ page entirety of Sheldon Mayer's "Scribbly" comic book feature...in well-scanned, easy-to-read full color.
From the same person, I also rec'd around 3,000 other complete Golden Age comics in the same format. It truly beggars the imagination. I know this is a wee bit OT for this forum...but it will be hard to pry myself away from these things for some time to come!

The only animation-related items I got were the Walter Lantz boxset and the Pixar Shorts DVD. I'm having a fine time introducing myself to the Lantz shorts, which except for "Pantry Panic" I have never seen anywhere! I also got the Chuck Jones "Extremes and In-betweens" disc, but I'm planning to exchange that and put the money towards the Disney Treasures!

Well in classic animation I got a Toon Factory DVD and I was actually amazed. Since I like popeye I got Toon Factory-Popeye Cookin with Gags. I had all the popeyes and all were the same or in worse condition then I previousley had them but on the DVD it Had "The Booze Hangs High" a WB Bosko cartoon from 1930. Being so rare and only have a couple so I was content. Plus two more WB toons "Notes to You" and "Porkys Cafe" both I didn't have. Plus Betty Boop, Superman, The new Three Stooges and more this DVD was a steal for a buck.

Didn't get anything animation-related, but I got a Wii with Zelda: Twilight Princess, a pretty good addition to the Zelda series. I also got a
generous amount of cash from various relatives, so I got myself Super Mario Galaxy, which is one of the very best Mario games out there.
If you're a fan of the Zelda and Mario series, I highly recommend both games.
Now, to wait for Super Smash Bros Brawl...
