While the stuplefyingly dated sub-MTV live action stuff will probably interest no one on this thread, and some will cringe at the awfulness of the new animation of Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, et al. (although I think this is the first time Bill Farmer voices Goofy), this is notable since this is apparently the first time Disney showcased it's newly computer-colorized Mickey Mouse shorts.

Clips from about 15 different cartoons are shown, and perhaps the biggest surprise is an oh-so microscopic clip of a colorized Mickey in Arabia.

The list of cartoons and a handy reference for screenshots (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v390/Superstar892/Totally%20Minnie%20colorized%20Cartoons/), courtesy of yours truly

The Klondike Kid (1932)
The Barn Dance (1928)
The Whoopee Party (1932)
Building a Building (1933)
The Gorilla Mystery (1930)
The Cactus Kid (1930)
Shanghaied (1934)
Two-Gun Mickey (1934)
Mickey in Arabia (1933)
Blue Rhythm (1931)
Puppy Love (1933)
Mickey's Steamroller (1934)
Mickey's Nightmare (1932)
Mickey's Revue (1932)
Ye Olden Days (1933)

I will say the garish neon colors used for the colorized B/W Mickey's perfectly complement the live-action mess.

Disney must be on Acid during the '80s

As I said in an earlier thread, it was a different time and I guess you can say it's a compaion piece to "Mickey's 60th Birthday" special.

However, one good norte worthy about this show was that this might have been the first time Russi Taylor provided the voice of Minnie.

I remember the 80's vividly! It was a fun time!

Wished I still had my copy of "Mickey Mouse Splashdance" to listen to again!

Was this before or after she married Wayne Allwine?

Before, I believe.

As an aside, I was surprised to see how yellowed and colorless some of the color shorts appeared on this special (How to Dance and On Ice, in particular) I don't think I've ever seen the shorts looking quite that bad, not even on the unrestored 2005 Treasures.

Leviathan, the footage you have identified as being from GALLOPIN' GAUCHO is really from CACTUS KID. Other than that, great guide!Strange, but true: though I didn't realize it before, much of the colorized footage used in TOTALLY MINNIE seems to have been colorized for use in that special alone. When full-length colorized Disney shorts appeared in syndication (from about 1990) and on Disney Channel (from 1992), at least most were colorized from scratch and with generally more tasteful color choices.
A few shorts excerpted in TOTALLY MINNIE, such as GORILLA MYSTERY, CACTUS KID and MICKEY'S REVUE, never got colorized in full later on, so TOTALLY MINNIE was the only time any parts of them were seen in color.

My Mistake, David. I was going by titles and designs in order to identify some of the more unfamilar shorts, and since I wasn't familiar with Cactus Kid, the design of Pete and his sombrero made me think of Gaucho.

If the colorizations were done expressly for the special and weren't intended for future broadcast, that makes sense because some of those color choices just don't look right.

Some of the colorizations both look REDRAWN and COMPUTER COLORIZED! (both done in the late 1980s, the redrawns were done at the same time as the Popeyes and Merrie Melodies for Turner, yes the merrie melodies (from what I've seen in black and white copies) look much nicer than the ones done for radio and tv packagers in the 1970s)...

Color or not, I prefer seeing the cartoons without the weak attempt at constructing a program as an excuse to use the cartoon footage. These are some of the reasons why The Disney Channel has lost its appeal.
