I found this video on YouTube. In the spirit of Christmas, I've posted a link to it:

I'd never seen this before, although I understand it's a legend in Chicago, where it's shown on TV every year. I was familiar with the song as recorded by Gene Autry (not the version in the video).

Thank you for the post. Of course, I grew up in Chicago, where HARDROCK COCO & JOE, SUZY SNOWFLAKE, and FROSTY THE SNOWMAN were run constantly around this time of year on WGN's GARFIELD GOOSE & FRIENDS. According to Ted Okuda, these cartoons were not run in many other markets outside of Chicago. I wonder if anyone who didn't grow up in Chicago remembers these cartoons (although it popped up once about 20 years ago on WJAC-TV in Johnstown).

But don't forget, WGN was one of the first "superstations" and is seen throughout the U.S. It's been on most cable systems here in Florida for a couple of decades. I always thought HC&J was one of the quirkiest Xmas shorts I've ever seen -- the first time I saw it was a real WTF experience. :)

I saw this special once on Thursday and had the song in my head all day Friday, without being able to remember Coco's name. Very catchy music. Thanks, Frizfrelengfan.

I live in Chicago and I saw HC&J and Suzy Snowflake twice on tv this year on channel 9 (WGN). I also saw Frosty the Snowman (only once i think).
