I'm a huge Woody Allen fan, so I was wondering if you like him, too? My favourites were his earlier films. I voted for "Bananas" and "Love and Death". I like 'em all, but those two really jumped out at me.

I particularly enjoy his shorter film, OEDIPUS WRECKS.
Definitely Annie Hall and Take the Money and Run.

I liked all of 'em except Love and Death (which I thought was pretentious), but voted for Bananas and Sleeper.

Bananas and Sleeper. (Sneaky honorable mention goes to Radio Days, since that one came along much later.)

While it's not his best, Take the Money and Run is my personal favorite.
Jackson Beck's narration is deadpan-perfect: "Prison food is scarce, and not very nourishing. The men get one hot meal per day: a bowl of steam."

I like almost all of them, but my favorite is "Take the Money and Run".

Take the money and Run was the first Allen film I've seen. IMO a little bit slower than some of the later-early films, but still a laugh riot.

While these are not early films, I really enjoyed "Zelig" (1983) and "The Purple Rose of Cairo" (1984).
While not the funniest Allen film, "Zelig" is certainly his most clever film. That film had some fantastic editing, IMO.
As for "Purple Rose", it is a very funny and clever Allen effort, I think this was his first stab at directing fantasy.

Does "What's New Pussycat?" not count because he didn't direct it although he wrote the screenplay and acted in it?

Bananas. It's not as well-made as his other films, but it's constantly funny.
