Being the optimist I am, I'll dedicate some time to the BEST happenings of 2007.
Of course, the Oswald DVD was a major accomplishment. :rabbit:
Meeting Mike Matei, a dedicated and supportive fan.
Meeting Dandu (thanks for the mention! :D ) Dandu will probably be the world's most knowledgeable aficionado on colorized film some day.
Meeting Jerry Beck in person and attending his hilarious Worst Cartoons screening a few months back.
Geezil and I got the ball rolling with P.U.P.Toons!
And so many more things that I probably don't remember right now, but do appreciate...
Oh, and 2007 has been my best 16mm-collecting year yet. Let's hope 2008 blows this year out of the water! :felix:
May you all have a happy and healthy New Year, and may the forces of the universe bring us all peace and prosper.

Just seeing the trailer is a major turn off, IMHO. Some things are best left to the annals of time.

I was turned off by the teaser trailer as well, but after seeing the film i forgave the film's bad advertising
Give the film a chance
Forget the bad advertising and enjoy it!

Is it a new book or a TV bio? I know having a 1995's documentary about him taped in 2000.

It was the book that came out in October.

I'm sure the film has its good points, possibly some entertainment value, but just looking at the characters makes me gag a little. I never liked the idea of making cartoon character appear to be realistic. :(

GOOD
The Simpsons Movie
Woody Woodpecker Vol. 1 DVD
Looney Tunes Golden Collection Vol. 5 DVD
Disney terminating their "Cheapquels"
WORST
Charles Schulz biography
The Simpsons and Family Guy being renewed (YET AGAIN!!!!!) for another lackluster season (although there is both tension and friction between Fox and Seth MacFarlane over Family Guy continuing without MacFarlane over the writers' strike so perhaps this could eventually lead to FG's downfall.....)
BTW, I've noticed a lot of people included "Bee Movie" as among this year's worst. How come? I wouldn't have ranked it as among the year's "best" but I didn't think the movie was that bad (Is it possibly because Jerry Seinfeld and animation just don't "mix" if you will?).

The new/"realistic" version of Chipmunks might be questionable, If your a purist
The important thing is They act like the Chipmunks we know and love inspite of their new revamped look
Where as Underdog, It's a total S.L.o.F
Underdog nor Shoeshine act like their cartoon counterparts

Here's the thing...weren't the characters original concieved as looking like and being the same size as real chipmunks? I know I've seen that in several of the oldest album covers. Yeah, I'd rather have the more cartoony designs myself but these "new" feature designs aren't as out there as one would think.

Getting to see DFE, Columbia, and UPA cartoons on Animania
Ratatouille (another winner from Pixar)
Bee Movie (Yes, I enjoyed it - As Dreamworks movies go, better than Shark Tale but not as good as the first Shrek)
WORST:
Too much anime on TV
Nickelodeon has become "All SpongeBob, All the Time"
The DFE, Columbia, and UPA cartoons on Animania are cropped
Still no Betty Boop DVD (video rights held by the worst studio, Lionsgate)

Best:
I'm not up on all the animated films, but I did enjoy Ratatouille and Shrek The Third (even though it's not as good as the first two). The Simpsons movie was somewhere between "best" and "okay" but definately not in the "worst" category.
All the golden age cartoon releases on DVD this year. Everyone has mentioned them a million times already so I'll forbear. Every time a golden age collection sells well, it's another nudge to the suits to release more good classic animation. Yeah!
Cartoon Dump episodes on cartoonbrew.com. Good stuff.
Worst:
The continuing hack job being inflicted upon the Tom and Jerry DVD collections. For shame!
Unless it happened in 2006, Fox's decision to not release any more King of the Hill DVD sets.
Sort of related to this thread...Blu ray and HD DVD format wars. Enough of this already!
