Me & My Brother just went to see "Alvin and The Chipmunks" and It's defintiely a fun adaptation of the franchise

It seems Ross Jr and Tim Hill pulled it off very good

The Chipmunks were pretty much the same Chipmunks we know and love, David Seville also the same (inspite of My Brother visulizing him more as Earl from that f'ed up show My Name Is Earl)

The music is well planned out and peformed to the best they could

The japanese/espanol languaged plushies are the one of the film's funniest moments

The best treat is that they have all of the album covers of all of the Chipmunks records from the 50s to 1998 during the credits

I highly recommend this movie
It's a decent family movie (inspite of the lack of toilet humor)

but, you don't have to take my word for it
here are some other reviews that convinced me to see it

LOL, "in spite"!? I think I ought to sing their praises for dropping them. (No pun intended! ;) )

Mind you, I haven't seen the film but the reviews I've read are nothing but good. Plus the trailer really got me hooked, espicially with the squeaky voices that we all grew up with! According to one of the reviews, what really helped this movie was the supervision of Ross Bagdasarian Jr, who made sure that everyone did everything that made the original character so memorable. That and they got rid of the posters of the three main characters in hoodies, which everyone despised. From the sounds of things, I reckon they did a very good job. I'll have to see that when I have the time.

BTW, the premise of what happens to the Chipmunks once their fame rockets is so damn true to every classic character that's brought back. Too much time in the sun and they'll burn.

I'm still very shocked it made over $40 mil its 1st 3 days of release. Very impressive and it should be very profitable as well.

My thoughts about the marketing of this movie aside, its good to see David Cross (he played the villain) have a big hit under his belt. Good to see Arrested Development alumni continue to have successful films after the premature demise of the show.

I've been afraid to see it, but I guess from the reviews it sounds like it hasn't been completely ruined. I might see it. I grew up with the 80's version of them actually, though I later saw the original episodes on Nickelodeon in the 1990's. Any cameo by the Chippettes perchance?

I totally agree with you, AardvarkDog. I never find that stuff funny.
