Here's some good news if you (like me) are a "DAVEY and GOLIATH" fan---(and I hasten to add, I'm not starting this thread as a venue for attacks on D&G's "morals", "preaching", or percieved "corniness". I'm just attempting to let interested parties---believers or just stop-motion fans--- know about a good deal).

I stopped into a DOLLAR TREE store last night to check out the cartoon DVDs, and was thrilled to find 4 VOLUMES of DAVEY and GOLIATH!

VOL. 1 features 4 of the 15-min episodes, plus a 1/2 hour special, and VOLS. 2-4 each feature 6 of the 15-min episodes plus a 1/2 hour special, as well.

So, for four bucks (!), you can latch on to 22 episodes and 4 specials.
They're licensed, too---this isn't some "P.D." thing....

I saw them at a Target near me for $1 each too. I wasn't sure whether to be glad or sad about it though. If they're being sold at $1 each doesn't that usually mean they're clearing out inventory of titles that didn't sell too well at the higher price points? If this is the case, then maybe we won't be seeing any more of the episodes on DVD. On the other hand, since it's a church that holds the license, maybe they don't care as much about profits and just want to make them available to as wide an audience as possible? Not sure what to think about this turn of events...

The ones I bought didn't appear to simply be close-outs of higher-priced retail releases...I've seen those, and this is not that packaging.

These are in the typical dollar DVD "slim" cases, and appear to be created for the "dollar store" market.

Thanks for the info...I will have to look for these. Every once in a while, you do find a gem among all the junk.

Indeed. Several months ago, I found a DVD of the forgotten Rankin/Bass cartoon series KING KONG in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart. Sometimes it's

worthwhile to dig around (when you have a little extra spending money); you

never know what you might find.

Out of curiosity. Did Davey use any of the Capitol cues Gumby used. Did they have to replace any music for the DVD's?

Wait, Davey And Goliath used the Capitol Records stock music most pre-Flintstones Hannah Barbara cartoons used? Not to mention the John Seeley-scored WB cartoons of 1958?
