Jerry Beck reports (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/animators/jack-zander-1908-2007) that Jack Zander has died. Rest in peace.

I think Zander also did "Tippi Turtle," a short-lived cartoon segment on Saturday Night Live about a drunken turtle who played pranks on people.

Awww, that's really too bad. Still, 99's really, really old so he at least lived to a ripe, old age. I still was hoping he would hit the 100 mark, though, just so that there would be a Golden Age animator other than Grim Natwick who did reach the centenarian level. In terms of that, Grim is still the only animator, AFAIK, to hold that distinction. Ollie Johnston, the Disney animator, however, is currently still living at 95. Five more years.....

RIP, Mr. Zander. Your early Tom & Jerry animation is truly incredible. Your work and spirit continues to live on!

What a career he had and what an amazing group of people he worked with, from New York in the 30s to the Ising unit at MGM then back to New York.

Someone, I'm sure, can list a scene or two of his work from Puss Gets the Boot of another of his MGM cartoons.

F. Fox.

I enjoyed his Tom and Jerry animation and even some of his work on the Captain and the Kids. One of the last surviving animators from the Golden Age.

RIP Jack Zander, you will be missed greatly.:(
