Howdy y'all,

Daisy Mae here. Yes, I'm a newbie! A friend of mine, who is very knowledged on the history of cartoons and animation, directed me to this site. Sorry to say I know nothing about the history of cartoons and animation. I just know I love the old WB cartoons. I miss Saturday morning cartoons like they were when I was growing up. *siiigghh*

Anyhoo.......
I'm interested to know if anyone else here shares a birthday with one of our beloved cartoon characters. I happen to share mine with Mickey Mouse. (11/18)
Though I'm much, much younger. ;)

I hope this isn't too boring or silly a topic. I do find it interesting to read all the threads here and am amazed at all the stuff that was going on. I figured the guys who made these gems were just as happy and silly as what they were creating. :shame:

Welcome to GAC, Daisy! It's a pleasure to meet someone who has very little knowledge of the history of animation. This will give everyone a chance to fill your head with misquoted parts of conversations, falsely remembed anecdotes, and other heresay we typically regard as fact. It will also give you a chance to decide for yourself what chapters in the history of animation are probably correct, and which are most likely not, once your knowledge becomes much more diverse. This can be a fun place to hang out and talk about cartoons, and if you have any questions, ask away, or feel free to sit back and read posts. You'll hear the names of people you've never heard of, but in a year's time some of them might become very familiar to you. We talk about theatrical cartoons from all studios and the people who made them, and Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies are often a topic of conversation. Enjoy yourself, Daisy!

Welcome Daisy Mae! It is always nice to add another member to the gang.

Is this really your name or are you using an alias? I ask because I am having a little chuckle right now since my dog has the exact same name as you are using! She is a german shorthair pointer and her birthday is May 12. Hence, the Mae in her name.

Welcome, welcome Daisy Mae (or is that Daaaaaisy June?:p)!! Great to have a female from the funny-pages here:D.

As for birthdays shared with famous cartoon characters (which nobody seems to be responding to yet... ).
Mine is ALMOST, just almost the same as my favorite fur-bearing varmint, Bugs Bunny... If my mom had just cooperated and had that C-section on the right day! ;):bugs2:

[And a belated welcome also to FlapperPrower:)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! This forum has a "good vibe" to it. Though I noticed it has a few "trolls" like other forums I'm a member of. Guess it takes all kinds, right? ;)

Bugsmer, I'm already confused!! This forum reads like a cartoon!! :p

I do find all the history interesting, but I'm just one of the millions who simply loves these classic cartoons. They are what made Saturday mornings so special and memorable. I remember being outraged when the networks took them off the air stating that they were "too violent" and replaced them with Ninja Turtles and Transformers. Now THOSE are not violent cartoons are they??? Whatever!

Well, I have lots and lots of reading to do here. So I best get to it so I can kinda sorta keep up with what y'all are talking about. Or should I have said YOUSE GUYS? Am I to understand most people here are from back East? That's okay I know how to handle Yankees. I am originally from NY. ;) So I'm feisty enough.

See YOUSE GUYS on the message boards!!

For those of the goofy :goof: persuasion I've added the date for him *(May 12) as well as the ones for Flip The Frog (Aug. 16) and Mr. Willie Whopper (Sept. 16), plus the Pink Panther's (on Dec. 18). Birthday "hits" on the immediately surrounding days in all four cases!

I can see the sogturtle likes doing research. ;) And, no, this is not more fun than astrology!! LOL It's just as much fun.

Daisy Mae~

This was the early Flip the Frog... He was created by Ub Iwerks, the same guy who co-created Mickey Mouse... Though Flip might've really
been more of a "toad":p . Iwerks' Flip cartoons (all 38 of them) were released thru MGM, so Flip was the first MGM cartoon star!

Just added Michigan J. Frog (he was jealous of Flip :flip: ) sooooo that is for those people born on Dec. 31 (give or take a day). And now also Marvin Martian for those born on or about July 24.

Now added dates for Heckle and Jeckle (Jan. 4) and Mighty Mouse (Oct. 16...)
