For all you Sullivan/Messmer fans, I've got a good poll. Which series of the silent/early sound felix do you enjoy?

The Paramount Era (1919-1922) Not a lot of people have seen many from this era since most of these films are lost.

The Winkler Era (1922-1925) Has a lot of the more famous felixes like Felix in Hollywood and Felix Saves the Day.

The Educational Era (1925-1928) Has a lot of more unusual escapades like Felix Trifles with Time and Felix Hits the Deck.

Copley Era (1928-1930) The infamous era where felix stars in poorly made sound cartoons like April Maze and Oceantics.

I voted Winkler too. While I love the more surreal quality of the later Educationals, I think I enjoy Felix as a kind of more active Garfield figure—as he often was in the Winkler period, mooching food and causing chaos in a neighborhood setting.
The Winkler era also saw a subclass of films in which only the cats' own society was seen and Felix was thus more humanized, often vying with rivals for Kitty's interest. FELIX LOSES OUT with the soapbox racers is a particularly clever story of this type... gotta love poor Skiddoo powering the car by running on the timing belt like a treadmill.

Err... I wish I had more Felix in my collection with a proper soundtrack.

Don't know enough to determine what would be my fave era.

Dines and Pines, Woos Woopie, and others with that kind of surreal quality are what I enjoy most.:felix:
